Hi
I am having a mini city modified.
1293cc rebore, crank, flywheel etc balanced
276 cam
MG Metro Big valve head
LCB with RC 40 exhaust
Centre mains strap
Pre verto clutch assembly
Twin 1.5 SU carbs
Steel Vernier
10:1 ratio pistons
Straight cut gears
4 pin diff
Rally strengthened drive shafts
GAz lowered shocks
Stripped out shell with cage fitted
Front end removed but steel hinged front end fitted
Power steering (Vauxhall corsa modified)
Megajolt ignition/electrics
Twin tanks and electric fuel pump
Sitting on 10 inch minilites plus 7.5 S calipers and disc
Car should be finished in 2 weeks
What performance can i expect and handling its primarly a fast road car so comments appreciated

90-95 fresh depending on how things are set I guess

Mine was similar, 97 but doesn't stay like that long, needs doing again as cam lobe is worn off after Nurburgring, that was in 2005 haha, actually mine had an altered 276 long story but somewhere around there.

Hi thanks for the message, i think 90bhp i uploaded pictures it needs the ignition set up and a rolling road, the wheels are not fitted yet as they will only go on when ptoject finished

Hi
I cant get old classic mini's out of my head, new cars today feel like they drive us.
I have owned a 1970 1275gt, 2 mini 850s, 1380 mini, 998 mini and now a 1293 they are old school technology i love that

Use a good dizzy and high octane fuel. Possible to make an honest 90 horses. Many more horses might be ponies when truly measured. For sure your setup will be a pleasure to drive.

When ready, setup and tested, let us know your final outcome!

My mini was a stage 4 big valve 1275 with 286 Kent, double barrel Mikuni PHH44 and 1.5 roller rockers. Made also a 90-ish horses, suffering from a little too low compression, causing loss of flexibility and low rev torque. Currently this engine is re bored to 1380cc with forged omega's and Specialist Components Bimmer 16 RS K head conversion. Using 98 octane John Kimmens of SC told me the max static compression with these RS cams can be 13:1, so I made it a save 12,6:1

That pretty much describes my car! Apart from I've got a 286 and a 123 dizzy. Mine gets mid 90's so I would say low to mid 90's for that setup too.
Sounds like a nice car, should handle well if all the suspension is adjustable and setup correctly.
What diff ratio are you going for out of interest?

Interesting, just about the same as an engine I built almost 2 years ago but never got around to finishing - it sits in the corner of my office!

1310 based on a 1300GT with 11 stud head (Mk3 Cooper S). A+ rods with ARP bolts, Minispares 6cc dish Nural pistons, 276 cam carefully timed, lightened steel timing gear and IWIS chain, lightweight steel flywheel and pressure plate, all on a SC clubman gearset with a 3.44 diff. Will run on a single 1.75" SU with LCB and RC40.

I was expecting and honest 85bhp from this (the head has not been worked) but maybe I will be surprised!

Be interested to hear how it goes as I doubt I will get this engine in the Mini before mid 2018.

The megajolt set up has not been fully setup yet the car goes for a rolling road next week to do the finals to it, the garage got the engine started as through a laptop you can do that and hey ho she started, according to the garage it runs well but will be interesting to see the rolling road results

On the diff ratio i dont know yet will check and let you know, the mini has a lightened flywheel and it and the assembly was fully balanced Gosnays did the engineering on the engine

My 1293 is pretty much that spec with 1.5 rockers and a swiftune SW5 cam, it had a wildly optimistic 97bhp on one rolling road, but a more believable 80 on Neil Slark's. It's on twin 1 1/2's (because they look better) , but there's no performance difference from the HiF44.
