Heater control knob will not turn..

So, I have a 2002 Cooper I picked up from an auction and I am sorting a few issues, as you do.
One I have found is that I can't turn the knob that redirects air to the foot wells etc.
Right now, I can only point air at the windscreen and the next one up, there is resistance if I try to turn it Anti clockwise anymore than that.
The hot air works fine, and it is something I can easily live with, but if it is an easy fix I might as well have a look at it.
Any ideas?
