May seem odd question to some.
Can a standard exhaust, genuine Mini, (rear section with twin pipes) be fitted to or replace the Miltek exhaust rear section.
Car is a 2004 Cooper S R53
I want to put car to as standard as I can. Miltek exhaust is not to my liking.

Have you looked at the costs to put back to standard?

When the rear boxes failed on my R53 the standard exhaust was really expensive, and for the same costs you could get a replacement stainless steel version.

Also unsure if the original system is able to be split into sections?

Why is the Milltek not to your liking? I can't imagine going back to standard since i upgraded mine to Milltek when one of the standard boxes started blowing a few years ago.

Personal preference really.
The car came with the Milltek. It's a little too much of a drone for me. I'm sure it's a good exhaust, just prefer what I hear on standard Cooer S exhaust.
It is a daily driver.
I do have a Cayman S with a Carnewal exhaust. I'm not opposed to a sweet singing exhaust.

Is it resonated or not?

ie. Does it have a front "silencer" or not.

If it doesn't it would be cheaper to get one fitted.

Something like this (don't know if this is the right diameter though) fitted just behind the flange after the cat.

If your exhaust is non-resonated, a local Longlife or Powerflow agent should be able to make a replacement centre section with a box in it that will reduce the noise at a sensible cost - it's easy to see if you peer underneath the centre of the car whether you've got a mid box or not.

Milltek do just the front silencer/resonator but it is expensive, about £160 I think, part number is MSM311. If yours is the straight through front pipe and you replace it with this it will qieten it down.

The most civilised and non droney exhaust, that still breaths well, for the R53 is the OE JCW one. I've driven a couple and they have a nice note but are amazingly quiet - compared to my non-resonated Milltek. I bought a used one in December to maybe fit to my R53. They are around used, but difficult to find. I may replace my whole Milltek with it, not sure yet.

I've got a Milltek resonated section, if you're interested give me a shout. Only had about 1,000 miles on it.

Well there's a thing - yes I'm indeed interested Kayzee, thanks. Can you PM folk on here? I hardly ever use this forum and am a bit of a learner.

I'm likely to be selling the car at some stage, so probably leave it as it is.
