2007 engine swap for 2002 engine

Hi all , I have a 2007 1.6 mini with timing chain slipped, I can get my hands on a 2002 mini for little money , is the 2002 engine a straight swap ?

Is it a convertBle 2007 mini or hatchback?
Convertibles have the same engine as the 2002 hatchback (r50 and r52 models) the 2007 was the newer r56 with a peugeot engine and this is completely different and not interchangeable

In that case you will have the peugeot engine, normally if it’s jusy jumped on the timing you can reset the timing and put a new tensioner and guide and you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t be looking to replace the engine just yet- jumped i on that engine rarely causes any significant damage. Where in uk r u

Engine is not a straight swap, fix what you have, it will be cheaper in the long run
