Let's see how Joe Public can handle all that torque in a FWD.
I'd definitely crash it! hehe

My Cooper S can be very unruly with only 189bhp...and there isn't anyway I'd stay on the road with 300bhp(plus the additional torque) in mine for sure.

That's why I wanted a test drive before I put my money in the pot.

I've got 300bhp and 350Nm in a 1450kg RWD, and that can be a handful if not 100% alert.

I still can't understand how 306bhp with 450Nm in 1200kg can accelerate more slowly than my 1998 BMW, unless it is just over-powered and sits wheel-spinning, or with the engine cutting in and out to limit the power.

I’ve got 345 Bhp coming from the front wheels in this and it does pretty well to get the power down

Tremendous downforce in those Focus RS 500's. I had similar in my Escort Cossie - the wing and front splitter allowed it to drive upside down through tunnels.

On the torque thing - I've got a vaguely unusable 270bhp and 280lb/ft now in my R58. Even with the Quaiffe it just spins up in first and second. It's possible to get some spin in four if the road is greasy after salt. The GPi$$3 may have toque-limiting in the lower gears to try and handle this better- otherwise it will be undrivable, unless you feather the throttle as I have to do.

I managed to get a new Manic SPS switch at reasonable cost off ebay so will give it a try in the less agressive maps....

Very much looking forward to seeing it in the flesh on Sunday , I love what I see so far but you never know it might be so much better in the flesh. Any idea if it is now sold out or a few remain.
My dealer claims all the allocation was taken before xmas...but i am sure a few people wont follow through...don't know if there is a waiting list.

I was also thinking about this again earlier and I think that the auto gearbox will be big help in this. It will cut out a bit of the abruptness I think, and they will be able to program in some moderation for sure.

If my manual Cooper S had 300bhp(and the equivalent torque) it would just bonfire the tyres everywhere if you were daft on the throttle.

I'm presuming that it must be the chassis/suspension that is a little bit pony then on my Mini. It would be a complete mess to drive with 300bhp without a LSD and just on its standard open diff.

Does the 300bhp Type R have a LSD?

My Mrs has a 16 JCW around 224 bhp or something like that and its rapid, i don't drive it much but when i do i stick it in sport mode and it frightens me, so 300 or so Bhp is certainly going to get my life insurance policy monthly payments almost doubled

Couldn’t get past the first minute. Tempted to pull my deposit knowing that some of it’ll have gone on paying that clown!

Well I’ve seen it, touched it and sat in it, and it’s a beautiful machine, so much better in the flesh.
The carbon trims are smooth and will be easy to clean the whole look of the car is spot on, it was getting lots of attention and not to much bad words where being said about it
Car was brought from Oxford plant this morning and will be taken straight back down afterwards, I don’t think anyone with a deposit down will be disappointed
