That is lovely. Got any details?
Cheers. It's a 2017 JCW manual that I bought AUC in December 22. Paying £18k for a 5 year MINI doesn't seem very sensible but the clean ones with FSH and a proper warranty are so few and far between, beggars can't be choosers
Still, I also insisted on 17', no dark rear windows, no arm rest and no sunroof, so quite lucky for the right car to turn up in the network within 30 miles...

Recently aqcuired the 8th oldest surviving MINI, a pre-production Cooper with lots of features and details that never made full production. I don't plan on using it a huge amount, maybe a few hundred miles a year to local car shows and running errands on nice days. I'll post a thread in Readers Cars if there's enough interest
This is the 11th MINI in the family and my fifth one, my previous ones are below;
My first, a 2001 Cooper bought in 2010. Brilliant car
My 2nd, a 2007 Cooper S bought in 2011. Not so brilliant, lasted about a month before I sold it. Looked brilliant and still the nicest specified MINI I've seen, but never gelled with the handling and the constant reliability issues.
My 3rd, a 2002 One bought very cheaply in 2014 as it needed a new gearbox. 62k miles and it only cost me £1300, perfect car as I had just bought my first house and needed something cheaper.
My 4th a 2002 Cooper S, bought in 2015. I went everywhere with this car, all round it's probably the most fun car I've had, though the running costs were horrific!

Out of curiosity, how do you know it's the 8th oldest survivor?

MINI Y-Register hold a database of MINIs built in 2001 and earlier, which includes pictures, MOT history, build sheet, and whether or not the owner is known, amongst other data. Mine is the 8th oldest Cooper known to survive based on the data held by them. Trophy200
They can be found here - https://miniyregister.co.uk/
It has been just over a year since we picked up our F56 MINI Cooper in Emerald Grey and it has been nothing but a positive experience.
First thing we did was swap the Dunlop Run-Flats for a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5's which made a massive difference in terms of both grip and refinement. We also ran the car with Michelin Alpin A4's in 15" steel rims throughout the winter which were faultless.
I gave the car a full service back in July. Oil, Filters (Oil/Air/Cabin) and Spark Plugs were all changed, I was surprised how easy the car is to work on.
I also retrofitted an OEM central arm-rest as this was not optioned on the original build. Once all the parts were obtained, again, it was an easy fit.
Back in March it had its first MOT in our ownership which it passed without fault.
Last month I had a few days off work so decided to give it the full works. Polish, Seal and Wax. I also touched up some marks on the wheels and treated all the exterior plastics with GTechniq C4.
Looking forward to the summer months so that we can enjoy the car in the better weather.

And from the 8th youngest R5x Mini, to possibly the last registered R53 (I currently have a query in with MINI).They can be found here - https://miniyregister.co.uk/
Bought purely as I previously owned a R50 years ago which reminded me of my old MINI, in conjunction with sone members rides thread on here making me obsess over the R53.
Previously also owned and R56 and Martini striped lovely R55 N18 I miss terribly.
The R53 is 40k miles, rear seats never sat in according to the first owner and totally standard.
Will be used for occasional daily duties when the weather permits, and living in the garage when it doesn't.
Just on a light rolling restoration of the car before it heads to 1320 mini in the autumn for a good looking at.

That is very, very cool! I am aware of an R53 on an 07 plate but have never seen another, let alone one on an 08 plate! Very unusual as all the cars were built to order back then, and even though the R56 came out in November 2006 the R53s were still desirable, so would be interesting to see why it sat for 18 months before being registered!Just out of interest, do you know what month it was built in?
I think i've prob lost track of the Minis we have had since we started to race them in 2017
R50 - 10
R53 - 3
R56 - 1
:O
Raced 5 of them....
Pink R50
Blue R50 - sold for some reason, only to build another straight after
Which was rolled
and re-shelled
R53 same colour
Also still got an R56 JCW road car
Not really sure why we have so many... but I like them! Cheap little run arounds, and brilliant race cars (for what they are really)
This was the R53 we sold earlier this year... #85 in the UK. Great car
