A great write up and top grade spannering as well,
The comment about the front being hinged was great,

well done,

ive just got a boggo one myself,

mini owners are a constant state of high alert for oil leaks and rattly noises, honestly the RAF quick reaction fighters arent as wound up as a mini owner looking for oil leaks
Oil level is critical on r56 s and jcw using the N14 unit, external leaks or internal use is worth keeping an eye on.
oh i know mate spent more time combing over it than driving it.
seems to be behaving currently

Hi Steve, those are the two black boxes I referred to. You plug the brown and black seat heating connectors into those and the wires out the other end has a connector that slides into the yellow connector block which has the black slider and connects into its yellow partner block poking out of the carpet under the seat into the main loom.

hoping the main loom to the seats is generic across all models so the wires are in there for the heaters already, will save running extra wires. Will only take a look whe the new ones show up. ta

I like my lounge leather, OK not that supportive obviously, but comfortable, and I couldn't be without the heated option now, every drive its on, helps my back so much.

A quick bit od spannerings/wiring today.

Seat wiring done, installed the controllers etc in the new seats.

2020-11-21_02-57-25 by Old_Chad, on Flickr

So it look like the heated seat loom is a seperate partneed to have a dig about online for a decent wiring diagram set, but I have the part numbers (the collection of bits I bought only had 1ft of the loom I needed).

Another annoying thing is that I thought the heated seat/window buttons were seperate to the HVAC controls, seems they are not. So I now have the original digital facia with no heated seat buttons, an LCI set the same, and the one I have bought with the heated seat buttons but for none digital HVAC, arse. So best get back on ebay.

Anyway, seats in, easy instal.

So done some digging around on the web, looks like the main car loom is the same regardless, so the heat wires are present in the multiplug to the seat base. What I need is http://minifans.info/parts-catalog/R55/Europe/Coop... which is the seat occupancy sensor AND heater ecu lead combined, found a seller on ebay that does them for €35 each, however I am sure I can find them cheaper second hand, will ask on the facebook groups. I do actuallt have the loom bit I need, came in the bundle I got with the E|C|Us and switches, however they chopped one end of the plugs off.

Seems gen Mini part is £26, will see what my facebook post gets me before ordering new. Seems to be a few of the correct HVAC controllers on the bay, just debating if I go LCI black or stick with siler

Car is coming along nicely mate. As it happens took mine for a spin yesterday and noticed a hum from the rear and wondered if it was a rear bearing.

It’s in the garage this week for the control arm bushings so will get him to take a look.

Yep agree with that, especially now you have the red piping on the lounge seats.

Is the dashboard inserts black or are they cream as well?

All cream, will have to do some research to see if it easy enough to recover or just look out for some used ones

Well bought the required seat loom direct from Mini, as usual they are cheaper than other stockists (as few sellers on ebay selling them). Must remember to check Mini first when buying parts, more than once genuine bits have proven to be cheaper than none OEM. Should be here before next weekend.
