Just cancelled my order and collected one of these instead. I guess time will tell if I’ve done the right thing.
Strangely, on the way up to collect, passing Oxford I noticed 5 GPs on their way to their owners. Look very nice, but I’m happy with my choice in the end.

Great choice and I just finalised my GP3 deal today.

With 700 miles on the clock I agree with all the comments. It’s a bloody great car and I am really looking forward to taking it back to its testing ground in a couple of weeks with Destination Nurburgring. The performance is superb and the brakes feel like the AP’s on my old CSL.
Those on the fence should jump onto the wild side. Life’s too short and I guarantee you’ll love the GP3 experience.

Luke.

Isn't that about twice the price? Not really comparing apples with apples.

Currently driving a 306hp Mini Countryman. Is the engine meant to sound part diesel part rattles or have I a bad one ? Not impressed with the power delivery at all unless that's part and parcel of a high power 4 cylinder.

I have that engine with only 189bhp in my petrol Cooper S and it does sound a bit diesel like at idle/lower revs. I don't find it as bad when you rev it right out though.

It does show what depth the engine has though, when it can be tuned to 306bhp like what you have.

I had a 192hp cooper s countryman before. While this one is quicker I prefer my old slower car as it does not sound like a tractor and it had decent suspension. This is going back at the weekend anyway. Think these performance SUV’s are a waste of time now I have driven one.

Picked mine up on Tuesday. It’s a long time since I’ve had a front wheel drive car (20+ years).

Headlines: I love it. Never had a car which has so divided opinion which I quite like. People either love it or can’t understand why I’d buy it. Cars should be interesting in my opinion.

And it’s also a really interesting drive which I’m looking forward to playing with. The comments about pulling out and overtaking something and all sorts of things going on are spot on. But not in a frightening way. Ride is certainly firm, but not terrible. Grip is immense. It’s quick. I would prefer a manual, but the auto’s fine. Summary - it’s different and interesting and fun in a very good way.

Very happy I went for it.

Should I be lucky enough to pick one up in a year or 2
I think the 1st Job would be upgrading to at least 40 section rubber
If there wasn’t enough space/clearance to drop down To 17” wheels ?

I guess it’s not on coil overs from the factory due to warranty issues on gp2 and challenge with previous setups ....

Mine has arrived. Looking forward to seeing how different it is from my JCW. It doesn’t look too shabby inside.

Picked mine up today, I can only echo all positive comments above. It’s fast, firm and a blast.

Having had and R53 Cooper S at 173 bhp, then GTT tuned to 225 from new to 125000 miles then an R56 fJCW 15000 to 80000 mile. This GP is on another level in many ways, the R56 was much faster than the R53 easily 10 to 20 mph when pressing on but felt slower. The GP feels fast even at 60 mph I guess it’s a little like the R53 that way.

Paddle changing in the wet under power with some lock on is interesting But instantly corrected.

Would I change my mind? Hell no,

Mine delivered last week is 1108 and so I think they’re still producing them. Speaking to the dealer it sounds as though they are still available too.

Evo review in!

A not bad 4 stars

"Some cars flow down a road and work with the driver, but as things stand the GP feels a little too much like a car fighting with itself and its pilot, entertaining only in small doses."
It's like Topgear and Evo reviewed two different cars. One has it as a boringly competent fast hatch whilst the other has it as needing constant input as it's so lively, maybe a bit too lively.

Either way I've decided to go for it and I get it tomorrow so I'll know which was the closest description soon enough.
So Evo in print arrives on my doorstep today, with a few more words added to the online version.
Without it being flagged up explicitly my overriding impression is that it was reviewed On very wet day on new/nearly new rubber. (Photos worth a thousand words) So It’s hardly a surprise that it felt a little unruly after sudden throttle inputs.

Will need looking at again on another dry day, with the optional/better tyres as it currently stands with only 3.5 stars compared to the 5 Stars for the challenge version, which seems a little harsh to me ?

The steering does feel twitchy/pointy at high speed both wet and dry. That said I haven’t driven a MINI for 9 months, I have a feeling the rack ratio is higher (less turns lock to lock) than the normal MINI?

Looking at the interior pic thay have improved things - full alcantara wheel with red twelve o'clock marker (rather than printed metal). Enjoy!

It's still an auto. Sorry, no dice.

Hi everyone out there I picked up my GP3 yesterday afternoon and had a good run out in it. The car is absolutely fantastic and I certainly no have no regrets about the purchase or it being automatic. I even let the Salesperson have a drive of it and he was over the moon! The dealer tells me there are 29 slots left for the cars so any of you sitting on the fence jump now as I can assure you you will not be disappointed.
