Be interesting to see a change in seats, I nearly picked up a spares or repairs R56 just for the interior but would have had to get rid of the rest of it which was a bit too much work.

Well a long old road trip right across England for me, now have another to tinker with. Its been used as a dog taxi so needs a proper clean, and looks to have been sat for a while. Chain has gone on it so a none runner, but it was priced as such. Will have a proper look tomorrow and assess whats what, may just do exactly the same with a new engine and the lift, either way one will be off at the end. The first one will have more value as its 85k miles v 130k miles, but will see.

Well the first one has passed 550 miles now, so did the oil change

Any further upgrades bar the remap & window tints are on hold until the new van is fixed & I decide which one goes & which one stays.

Assume it all looked nice and clean (for a diesel) with no sparkly bits?

Yep, ran a magnet through the oil too and all clean. Full revs can be used now but too be honest anything over 3.5k is just noise, changing at 3k ish with the 6 speeds hits the sweet spot on the torque in the next gear.

On my petrol cooper S, an indicated 59 on the speedo is also amazing for fuel economy with the miles I do - I was surprised I average just a sniff under 54pmg on my petrol, across multiple tanks of fuel. Your diesel must do galactic mpg.

Problem is it is used mainly for shorter trips, and with a dpf it gets a bit of a thrash when warm, only seeing 45mpg. My auto MCS r55 does 31mpg, and my 3l Jeep does 24mpg on the same trips. Not had a decent long run in the van yet, may do a motorway run up to Manchester tomorrow evening to see what it will do.

Man, seeing the pics of your lifted Clubman has really made me want to do the same to mine!

I'm not a big fan of the alloys on my Hampton Cooper S, so have thought about changing them [same size but bronze]. But, as I do find the car a tad harsh over our lovely UK roads, I've began to wonder if I should drop from 17" to 16" and up the sidewall/profile from the stock 45 [I do have run-flats on my Clubman so I know ditching them would help]. I saw that you mention you no longer have to worry about potholes etc smile I'm guessing the lift-kit itself doesn't make the car more compliant over bumps etc, but I love the look.

Just wondering if there are any negatives of the lift-kit [additional wear/strain on the suspension, reduced mpg etc]? Obviously the handling will be effected, but that depends on how the car is used.

I reckon I am losing around 3-5mpg on the tyre size & lift, but if I went with a road tyre that would be less, AT's are draggy. So the suspension stays the same in effect, the compliance you gain is through the tyres.

Just been to swap the battery on the new van, motor spins over okay but no fire. Forgot by obd dongle so couldn't code read the codes. I am 95% sure I am going to move the current van on now and fix up the new one, may get a lower milage gearbox on it and a new turbo cartridge with the new engine & clutch, just so I don't need to think about spannering it for a long while, just a bit concerned I have never driven this one.

I was wondering if an AT tyre would be a tad OTT for my use, even though they do look cool. I joined a few of the Facebook group and spotted quite a few mentions of the Journeys lift-kit you have.

Started to have a poke about in the new van at the weekend, it is stinking of dog and absolutely full of fine dirt dust. Took the radio out to send off for a refurb as the buttons aren't working.

Have a mobile vallet guy coming to do the inside of the van before I take it back to my garage, it stinks so much of dog I don't want it stinking my garage out too!

My Landrover's nickname is still "The Dog" owing to it's state when I bought it. Steam cleaned (as in proper hot jet wash job) the entire interior twice and it still smelt.

Don't say that! I was hoping to get rid of the stink, I am not adverse to removing all the carpet from the van and jet washing it however. Bit I am unsure on cleaning is the air vents, they are hanging inside with dust, maybe take the cabin pollen filter out and air line the system out backwards?

I'm not quite sure how pungent your van is, but my LR was proper biohazard. I was in a work suit when I picked it up, carefully drove home avoiding touching anything more than the controls, my bum on the vinyl seat. Windows open of course. I absolutely STANK when I got home, suit needed to be dry cleaned and I needed a shower.

Am sure you'll get the van clean, but might take a bit of time & effort.

You do make me quite fancy one of these vans though. They're smart.

Did ask them to gas the air con while it was there, but there is a serious leak from a pip by the compressor, hopefully I have just forgotten to tighten up a hose, will investigate at the weekend

Ebay is dangerous, now have another 1 to collect! A bit of a dilemma now, latest is much better spec than the white ones...which to keep.

I would love another Clubman but i couldn't deal with the annoyance when the engine goes pop which it will do.
