Has other have already said no deals on new Minis anymore, I collected a new JCW 1st March which I ordered 3rd Jan before they went agency and negotiated 3k off list, Mini also increased prices the same day so saved 4.3k

Just heard of a sale event starting on the 4th according to the radio so might be worthwhile to look later this week

The September sales event will be £750 off and a further £500 loyalty if your an existing BMW/Mini owner on new car orders.

As part of the Sales Event, we ordered a new Cooper Level 1, which worked out at about £320 per month over four years, no deposit, but a residual and 3.9%. No point in paying cash for it at those rates and the Level 1 is surprisingly well appointed, although we added metallic paint and snazzy wheels.

We were looking for a late used one, but this deal tempted us into a new one!

Heard now from 2 dealers that the new agency model doesn’t allow for any discounts unless applied by head office to specific cars - those that won’t sell.

That’s me out. Having owned 6 JCWs over the last 10 years or so I have always enjoyed the negotiation and achieved a price I was happy with and left profit to make it worthwhile. Now this is not allowed I approach the situation knowing that the £3k or thereabouts I I would hope to get discounted is still there and available on certain anointed cars but now I’m expected to simply suck it up. Sticks in my guts so no new JCW for me. Smacks to me of price gouging although I appreciate that for the nervous/unaware a fixed price makes it like buying a can of beans.

I sincerely hope this agency model dies a death. Perhaps a period of economic difficulties will change things again, although whichever director’s pet it is will no doubt keep their job.

I’ve ordered a well specc’d Golf Gti Clubsport for less than a level 3 JCW hatch after discount.

The way of selling cars is changing and won't go back to how it was.
I was having my Yeti serviced recently at what was my local ( GT Yarmouth) main dealer.
They are now just a Skoda service centre, no new car sales.
If I want to buy new it's a 60 mile round trip to Norwich.
The garage is now selling all marques and the salesman said he expects that Skoda will go to online sales as Mercedes in the next few years.
I've also discovered that my local Audi /Volkswagen dealer (Group 1 Lowestoft) no longer sells new VW's don't know if it's the same for Audi's
So that's another trip to Norwich if you want a new car.

Yes , tried a few dealers in the last week and all will not budge a penny on the advertised price on new or nearly new Minis saying the price is set by Mini U.K. due to the agency model. Reluctantly they will give a couple of hundred quid over and above WBAC value on a PX. Was told by a dealer today that next month Mini are to match the £1500 EV grant on new EV Minis . BMW Mini must be haemorrhaging sales to Renault/Alpine due to their pricing structure, higher cost of finance and lack of EV grant.

It has been a source of constant frustration over the last twenty years that you could walk into any bmw dealer and negotiate a good discount and lower rates using the same “ in-house financing” that in theory would be available to mini.

It’s in essence the same company with the Same head office @ farnborough.
You can get a mini serviced at a bmw dealer yet you can’t use their financing structure …

I suspect the agency model only has legs currently because of the “commission scandal”.

If you look on the Mini U.K. site (stock locator section)you can see the discounts. You will see the occasional car with a chunky discount . Likewise some of the new cars are advertised on Autotrader with the discount visible. I succumbed to temptation today and ordered a new JCW Aceman in stock with £3k discount and about £550 above current WBAC value for my px. Eligible for free insurance as well.

There’s a few JCW convertibles with up to £4K discount now.

None in the best colours though.

Have a look at how long those JCW convertibles have been hanging about. I know of 2 with February build dates. Not the end of the world by any means but if they have been in a showroom for months the paint is probably in a bit of a mess from my experience.

If I did have the money to change Mrs 131 Sports aging Mini, I’d want a 2 Door Cooper 1.5 in Sport Trim finished in either Nanuq White or Sunnyside Yellow. I’d imagine this is a popular choice and I can’t see them being discounted.

I would take the wbac claim with a pinch of salt. Cars pass though auction at higher prices, so why would a dealer
Not sell via auction?
I have a 2020 mini jcw and they hold their very price well and with general price inflation cars are not cheap anymore. Best time of years to buy a car Thu.

Seem to recall that when the modern Mini was first introduced (20 years ago or so?), it was a similar situation - no discounts, the price is the price!

The colour match on the bumpers in Nanuq White is shocking.

When we do get round to getting one, I’ll point this out to Mrs 131 Sport as I personally prefer the yellow which she’s not as keen on.

Just buy an F56 JCW, you actually get Brembo brakes befitting of a hot hatch, and not the hugely cost cut standard sliding caliper in the new model.

I think the new shape Mini is a great looking car and the previous version that she’s had for 5 years is looking a little dated.

Moreover the Mini doesn’t really have much competition now with Alfa not replacing the Mito and the Audi A1 looking dated.
