cost of warranties

Can anybody help? BMW want £543 to renew warranty for one year on a Cooper S, I have found Warranty Direct over the internet who can do it for £234 they are under written by Lloyds. Has anybody heard of this company or had any dealings with them? Thanks

Hi - I have just taken out a warranty with these guys so I hope they are ok!!

They include wear and tear cover unlike a number of warranties offered by dealers. I believe they are similar in that respect to the BMW warranty.

The web sites that appear to recommend them are 'What car' and 'honest John'.

thanks thats all i needed the bmw warenty is a joke .anyone would think its a M3 for that price!!!!!

Have you seen the cost of the warranty for an M3 ?? Goes ballistic when greater than £60k miles...and £250 excess on each visit.

Not saying the warranty costs is in any way cheap, just not close to M3 prices..

Good luck with your 3rd party warranty.
I think you'll find £500 ish is not bad for a year considering other markes costs. It is after all a BMW.

What your 3rd party warranty wont do is pay the same labour rate as your bmw dealer so you will end up covering the differance and BMW dealerships can charge around £100 an hour. Also you may find you have to fork out first for any warranty work carried out and then claim it back from the 3rd party warranty company yourself. Not to mention the extended amount of time your car will be off the road whilst the service advisor tries in vain to get authority and therefore a claim number off the 3rd party warranty company to proceed with work.

Great idea to have this warranty if you never have to claim, you'll regret it if you do though.
