It certainly was a good turn out!

I was there in the tin bath - it needs a bloody good polish and the interior sorting out!

lots of very nice cars there!

I was driving back along the A45 from Birmingham airport at about 9.30pm last Wednesday and noticed a broken-down ca. 1950 dark saloon car, which had just about got to the end of the slip road onto the A45 Eastbound at Whites Nurseries. The driver was standing nearby. I didn't envy him, as it was now dark and the vehicle was practically unlit and partially on the carriageway, so probably no power or battery failure. I hope he was recovered quickly and safely.

did anyone go to the latest one?

rude stewards, and cars which really shouldn't be at a CLASSIC CAR MEET brand new bog standard BMW X5 and other such cars, i can walk around Tesco and see dross like that.

This has been happening for some time. The stewards need to exercise consistency and have some sort of guidelines as to what should be in the 'showground' and what should be in the public car park.

At one event last year a new S3 was directed to the showground and I was waved on to the public car park in my near 20 year old M5. I politely protested and was allowed to show (having spent 3 hours cleaning it I was keen to!) but I realise that I was part of the problem too: if everyone who protests - politely or otherwise - is allowed to show then the quality is diluted and the whole point of the meet lost.

I didn't go on Wednesday but will go along later in the summer despite the above criticism. amongst the everyday cars that have no place in a 'classic' show there are still some lovely and interesting classics and exotics.

^^^^ what they said. I didn't go this week, but it's not what it was from a classic car enthusiast's point of view. You can't really blame the organisers for taking the money whatever punters turn up in, but it has certainly diluted the quality of vehicles. Whereas it used to be quite intimate and with some very special classics, it's now acres of primarily dross. I'll probably just go once this year.

It's a real shame, we turned up in our 24 year old 850R, not everyone's cup of tea, but that's the beauty. Lady on entrance simply said "you showing or what" I said jokingily "what do you reckon" her reply was I dunno what is it!?

Went to park up and the lad marshalling us us got very pedantic about the exact measurement the front of the car should be, I had a little laugh with him as my wife did and he said "you will be the first to moan when you can't get out" there was like a 25 yard gap!! I know the turning circle of the 850 is bad but not that bad!

The grass was long, and I know it's been dry but I have to complain about the access road in, they should dampen it down, no matter how slow you drove in there was clouds of dust, I'm glad I spent 3 hours cleaning the car for it to be covered in an inch of dust! God I sound like victor meldrew here!!

These little things to bother enthusiasts though, there was some lovely stuff there admittedly but it's so dilluted it's untrue, used to love this event but won't be in a hurry to return, like many others I spoke to while there.

I could definitely be up for it, what are the arrangements now, do we need to book in advance or is there money on the gate or...?

Last time I went was before covid so a little unsure what's changed.

I’ve bought an advance ticket for tomorrow as I wasn’t entirely sure but understand from the website and from local Facebook posts that one can just rock up and pay on the gate.

Not sure I'll be back from London in time tomorrow, plus weather looks a little unsettled.

I'll aim to be at the next one

Will be down on Wednesday, planning to bring the Monaro assuming I make good progress with tonight / tomorrow's tinkering, otherwise will be the in the Commodore again.

Also likely to head to the Towcester one (opposite Bell Plantation) next week.
