Hove Prom and Hove park, only 3k in between them so 16k round trip. Paced the first one carefully so only 9 secs slower on the second one.

Weather not pleasant, waves breaking over the sea wall, but good start to the year and good to meet up with loads of people.

2 new ones for me today - Thetford and Brandon Country Park as staying with friends in. Cambs. Still trying to get back up to speed after being ill for most of December.

Did Pontefract and Nostell 2 years ago - Pontefract became an out and back course because of the ice and Nostell was pretty muddy I recall!

Been ill for the last few days so missed Saturday's parkrun, Sunday's cross country, and todays' parkruns frown Made it out today to marshal though so only 4 away from a t-shirt now.

Our local NYD was cancelled. The course didn't hold up well on Saturday, so adding a bumper number of feet two days later would have been a mudfest, but more importantly, would have ruined the field for the other users. It may well have meant it never recovered this winter too. Better safe than sorry and kudos to the RD who went out anyway in case anyone hadn't seen the website or facebook page.

So, who did the double today? Decided to go slightly further afield and get some tourism in by visiting Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington.

Both absolute mudfests, but a really nice change of pace from my normal fully paved courses. Great atmosphere at both, which really showed my home course as lacking somewhat in terms of being quite impersonal.
Second double for me, sedgefield then over to Albert in Middlesbrough. Sedgefield was very icy in places, Albert had a record turnout of 566. Love the Christmas Day and NYD runs.

I did Albert too. Stewarts first at 9:00. 4th year in a row for a double.

I was also at Albert parkrun. Was too hungover/ tired to attempt the double though.

Here's a photo I took on NYD, you might be in it ha.

I was right up at the front for the start... had illusions of grandeur till about 1km in when my legs started complaining about trying to run two quickish ones ha ha

According to Radio 4's more or less, the hardest Parkrun in the UK is 5laps of a muddy school playing field in the Lake District. That sounds equally mentally challenging as it is physical!

You can bet that half of that playing field is going to be uphill as well.

I'd like to run it.
Penny Flash is the hardest I've run, three laps and parts of it are very steep.

It's certainly not hilly, just relentless mud.

Keswick, conversely is a scenic little out and back alongside a river and passing waterfalls. One of the better ones I've done.

I like Worsley, it's also climbs quite a bit and has steps but I don't consider it a hard one since it's got good floor, it reminds me of running through Fangorn, I feel like Aragorn when I run it. biggrin

Our backup route is 5 and a bit laps round a cricket pitch. It’s a ‘marmite’ course as it’s 5 and a bit laps but it’s also pancake flat.

When we use it, all the speed merchants roll up to nail the PB so they don’t dislike it that much wink

I did Ludlow once and it was a lovely trail with quite a lot of gain. Not the easiest, but certainly not football boot territory

Cardiff's 10th birthday last Saturday (I wasn't there, just heard it on Marathon Talk) - 1192 runners and 103 (!!!) volunteers.

Massive numbers are my biggest fear these days - we've had around 600 3 times so far this year at Preston Park and averaged 500 compared to 400 same period last year.
