first run for three months since my ankle went ping!. 28 mins, damn hard too, hamstrings like rusty knotted iron wire. Lungs ok but lactic acid sweeping was an issue, throat too dry too, not enough warm up

Completed my Scottish 10 for 10 yesterday at my home run at Aberdeen Beach, which was a nice feeling. Still a minute off my PB.

Walking into town yesterday afternoon for a session in the pub I felt something in my lower calf and am a bit bothered about it as have a 10k planned in a couple of weeks time. Erk.

Well done Mike,

I completed run 51 & Event 21 at Coventry Saturday. Nice indulating two lap course. not a great time for me but nice run.

Off to Worcester this weekend to take a friend who is a double transplant recipient for her very 1st parkrun.

Off up to Whinlatter this Saturday, it’s meant to be one of the toughest, and I like a challenge.

If it's a challenge you like I'm more than happy to suggest a few routes up that way that will put the groomed trails of Whinlatter into context.

I'm under orders not to do anything too daft this year, I knackered my knee up on the first day of the family week in the Lakes last year doing the Lakeland Country Fair fell race.

Might have a run up Grisedale Pike though, while she's not looking...

A pretty rubbish year for me so far, but turning the corner!
At start of year did some sub 20s. But left calf problem, then tight ankle afterwards hampered training.
Was staggering around in 2130 but under 21 last week.
Will keep chipping away & get back to where I was
I’ve been running for 40+ years. Should be easier with all that practice @57 smile

For those who are interested, PSH has launched his new project, CONTRA, a new brand of ethically sourced running clothes, available in a broad range of sizes making it accessible for all runners.

Its a separate business to parkrun but ultimately profits from it will go into parkrun to help sustain it in the future.

More details will be announced over the next few weeks by HQ but the facebook page has recently gone live: https://www.facebook.com/Contra-431232684044257

Two in a row this morning. Due to an ironman in Copenhagen, Amager Strandpark parkrun started at 8, with probably half the runners then running or cycling to Amager Fælled parkrun to get a second one in (while some nutters hopped on a train to get to Malmo in Sweden). Impressed that my second one was only about 15 seconds slower than than the first.
Not 100% sure they'll both count, but apparently they have in previous years.

Pretty sure the system won't allow it apart from New Year's Day.

First time at Whinlatter today, managed to get round in a sub 24, which might be four minutes slower than my PB, but still managed to get me eighth finisher. Definitely a tough one though.

Apparently they have allowed it the last couple of years so I'm hopeful. Currently both showing on my profile.

Did a round at the Fort William Parkrun this morning. Well, there's not another course like it in my experience of 23 different courses. Started on well graded forestry tracks, cracked along at an excellent pace, before veering off down across/alongside a stream with a couple of hundred metres of boardwalk. That was interesting; grippy enough under foot due to chicken mesh but there were gaps between some of the planks... Took a bit of concentration that! After that it was a narrow path winding it's way up and down alongside the side of the glen. Felt like minor fell running! One loop which is satisfying.

A little disappointed in my time, but apparently the guy who came over the finish line 1st mentioned that he normally gets round his home run in 18 or 19 minutes. Today he was 21m31s. My wife was a couple of minutes down too.

Probs in my top 5 of courses.

Had another crack at Whinlatter today, my week of holiday hedonism struck though, I was over a minute and a half slower than last week. Managed to keep my toast down though, so not all bad...

It’s a great course isn’t it. Really interesting, although the boardwalk is a bit sketchy. I did it last month and was about 2 mins slower than normal so I wouldn’t be disappointed.

My friend has been following the C25k program and recently finished. 1st parkrun was 31:xx and just 6 weeks later he went to 25:54 yikes

He’s running 3 times a week and now Saturday is parkrun day for him. He’s a large chap too at 16 stone

Now his son wants to do it with him..... it’s a great sign of what parkrun and C25k can do

Volunteering at Lancing inaugural yesterday, it's been kept pretty quiet so only 102 runners, might be busier next week now the Facebook page is up and people start talking about it!

Can't get to a run at all next week frown due to a family thing so that will be the first time for ages I haven't run 2 consecutive weeks!

Marshalled at an inaugural junior parkrun today. Never been to a junior one before, it's great to see how much even the tiny ones get in to it.
As above they kept it fairly quiet for the first one, I think most of them were kids of runners at the 2 local parkruns. Hopefully will grow nicely and they should be OK for volunteers.

Bit more tourism down at New Forest today.

Have to say that whenever I do some real tourism I get a greater appreciation for the local courses in South Wales. Swansea, Llanelli, Barry and Porthcawl are all seaside courses and a treat on a nice day.

And then I go to other places like Jersey, Torbay and New Forest and I find myself running round a track or a sports pitch.

On tour though I do find everyone much more respectful of the race director's announcement!
