I ve seen a few clips on Instagram of taking sharp corners the Japanese way which involves a little jump to turn 180 degrees then run in the right direction. A couple of people have tried this near me in busy parkruns and it just leads to either collisions or close calls.
I wouldn t be surprised if this incident was the kid darting across the path and the adult just put his hands out to brace against the collision, at least I hope it was purely an accident.
Latest trend it seems, not helped by some running "influencers" trying it - and not particularly successfully. The main video I've seen of it being done in a race shows one guy doing it and being overtaken by soneone else taking the turn in a normal way.I wouldn t be surprised if this incident was the kid darting across the path and the adult just put his hands out to brace against the collision, at least I hope it was purely an accident.
They went into lots of detail about high stack super shoes putting strain on ankles… but it went over my head if I’m honest.

As part of the Real Double Funnel project we've created the Funnel Simulator, probably not of direct use for most of you but fascinating to watch what happens when big numbers go through a finish funnel. (Edit - it needs a proper grown up machine to run on - phones don't have enough memory)

That is quite satisfying to watch. https://parkrohn.run/funnel-simulator.html

Just remember if there is a kid in the way of you during Parkrun that you should just push them out the way. Including into canals!

I really hope that it wasn’t a deliberate action and it was a consequence of 1400 runners being compressed into a small space. It’s bad PR for Parkrun either way.https://www.facebook.com/100064361215752/posts/pfb...

Here at Rugby, I’ve experienced undesirable incidents. I was running on a narrow path in a close group, a lady runner not involved with parkrun was running the opposite way, the person in front of me stepped aside at the last second and I wasn’t quite as quick and we clashed shoulders.
Another time I was tailwalker, during the first km this old man confronted us and said he had been “pushed about” by runners and he was pretty annoyed about it. We apologised and reported it to the RD. Again, I hope it wasn’t intentional and just too many people trying to share the same space all at once.
Children and dogs with runners can be unpredictable, I’ve had them swerving around or suddenly stopping in front of me and had to take avoiding action several times.
Rugby run was back on this week after two cancellations due to weather and course condition, 172 runners turned up and set my PB for this year.
Frustrating morning at Chipping Sodbury but these things happen.
Met up with the legend that is Last Poster again who offered to pace me round to a sub-30 which was super kind however my shoelace came undone literally 200 metres into the race and it took me 40-45 seconds to tie it up and get going again. First km slow, next four were quick and ended with a watch time of 30:01 which is annoying. In the hands of the parkrun timing gods now although we've had an email saying the results will be delayed while they double check the numbers.
LP - think I heard your bellow of encouragement near the end. Thanks for offering to pace me today, top man!

No problem Mart. You would have made that sub 30 today I m sure
It was me at the end.
I slowed for a bit but couldn t see you so headed off at the end of the first lap, KMs 3, 4 and 5 put me at 25.00 pace so that s fine for me
Ended up with 29:49 in the end which I'm delighted with. Third quickest time there and would have threatened my PB had it not been for the shoelace. It was me at the end.

I saw you ahead a few times but was never likely to catch you without completely burning out, mate. Good run yourself too.

Tried Irchester Country parkrun for the first time as it’s the closest one to me, I normally run Great Denham as I much prefer flat courses
Did 30.40 ish which I was very happy with, I’m around 28-29 minute form currently on flats so pretty decent for me
Didn’t say I don’t like hills? Lol

00:23:49 for me this morning at Bournemouth parkrun.
Not spectacular, nor in any way disappointing. I was late. Again. Or at least later than I'd have liked. But my fastest pace yet on the route to the startline meant I did have time to save my warm-up run separately, and to set a target time for the Garmin watch's virtual partner.
So I set my target time for 00:23:00, and almost immediately the run director started us off. All my splits were sub-5:00/km, but I soon realised I was never realistically going to trouble my target for the day, let alone my course PB.
I got passed (separately) by two friends on the second "big lap", and managed to speak to both of them, so there was clearly more in my tank. It's just that I was "in my groove" and not really motivated to push myself any harder.
I did manage a decent sprint after the last right turn, got myself across the line 80th/497, and hung around afterwards for a chat with a few regulars. I recovered myself pretty quickly, then started a second repeat of the parkrun route. I paused at the 3km point, tried to find a friend who's a regular marshal but he'd already left for home, so I restarted my watch, finished the full 5k course, and jogged home for a total of 12.34 kilometres.
Really fortunate with the weather, too. It was very windy, but that had helped to strip moisture from the ground after recent rain. Today's rain had the good grace to hold off until well after the last token had been scanned. It's been a bit of a theme at Bournemouth parkrun so far this year. Lots of dreadful weather, but a decent break in the worst of it over Friday nights and Saturday mornings.

Irchester is my regular parkrun. I've got used to the hills, it's great exercise, just not flattering when looking at the time compared to a flat courseDid 30.40 ish which I was very happy with, I m around 28-29 minute form currently on flats so pretty decent for me

I managed 29:40 at Bo'ness Foreshore on Saturday, quite a nice course but very windy! I was fooled by feeling pretty good on the start line after a week of having a cold and ran the first 2k far too fast, I barely had enough to keep jogging the rest of the way... Still, that's 250 parkruns done, and still improving overall so going the right way to a new PB sometime this year.

Welcome to the 250 club.I ran Banstead Woods - a nice 2 lapper on the edge of the North Downs but with a nasty shortish climb halfway through and very uneven trails.
I had run it once before but tore my calf whilst doing it so had bad memories of the course. Didn't push myself too hard (as I was doing a 21 miler on Sunday morning) and came in just sub 24 minutes. That was number 383 done for me. Beginning to think whether I can reach my 100th location and my 400th run on the same day. Have a new one for me (Littlehampton) on 7 Feb and Haga in Stockholm on 21 March by which time I'll have hit 388 runs and 96 locations.
I've recently bought some Raycon earphones that i could wear while running, following years of over-ear headphones that would be too bulky. Thing is I never run with my phone as again, it's too bulky. I see people running or in the gym with various things strapped to their arm, some of which look much like a smartwatch face, that I'm assuming they're using for Bluetooth music.
I've attempted to Google but all I've found are straps to attach your phone to your arm. Could anyone point me in the direction of a smaller, lighter solution?

I don't have a smart watch unfortunately and run wearing my Garmin Fenix 6X, not least as it has my barcode in it. Albeit I'm now wondering if i can put music on that watch and use that.
Yes, you can!https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix66s6x...
