Thanks guys. I've actually got the chance to go to two games but I think I'll be too jet lagged for the 1st one.

The restaurant sounds good and gets me in early but I will be there alone so they might not let me in as I won't be as profitable.

I'm in Leicester so I might try and catch a riders game before I go but I have got hold of a couple of games from the net which should save me from going in blind.

The thing that surprised me the most was the cost, I've got an ok seat, nothing amazing but it still cost me the best part of £200! Do their games sell out? Being a regular supporter could be a very expensive hobby.

Yep most games sell out, you get alot of tourists like yourself going there so even if youve never followed basketball alot of people still want to go there ! £200 does sound expensive tho , when i was looking it was around 120 dollars.

I don't think living in the uk helps if you want to watch the knicks live, gets expensive.
Do watch some uk teams, the team i support are now in division 3 of the ebl, have been in division 1 then down to 4 now back up again, however all the players are local and i've watched the team for over a decade and nothing beats when some london team comes down to somerset and gets beaten by us

We've been in the national league since at least 2005.
We won up 05-06 /06-07 and went from div 3 to div 1 of the ebl where i think we stayed for 3 seasons. Then we realised we couldn't really finance the players needed at div 1 withdrew and the ebl dropped us to div 4 , where we won up to div 3 in our ist season.
One of our ex players is now playing for leicester riders and another at plymouth raiders

Yes and no.

I watched a lot in the Jordan era (the ‘hand-checking’ era ;-) ), then early Kobe and Iverson era. Played a lot too then (school / college/ local teams), but not for over 10 years now. Went to Kevin Cadle’s (RIP) basketball camp too when I was a teenager.

Not have game pass or anything, too busy to follow NBA these days. Having said that recently I have started watching NBA on TNT clips on YouTube, Chuck, Shaquille, Kenny Smith and EJ are hilarious on their show.

I went to the Houston Rockets game in London in 96 (???) when they were over here to play the pre-season McDonald’s cup. Clyde, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry were there but Olajuwon did not play due to injury.

Anyway I was in Washington last May and whilst there I managed to go to a playoffs game Wizards vs Celtics. Good times.

Went to quite a few games when Kevin Cadle was at Team Solripe with Bobby Kinzer, as my step-dad played for them at the time - interesting times for basketball in the UK at the time. The NFL did a great tribute at one of their games recently..

I don't really watch but I've realised that I never posted up after I went to watch the Nicks. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone. The Nicks won and the atmosphere was electric.

Whilst having a beer before the game in a random bar I got chatting to some girls and they invited me to a party that night, if I hadn't spent almost £200 on a ticket to the game I would have sacked it off and gone to the party!

I've only stopped playing in the last 2 years [I'm 38 now] after a second huge ACL injury. Played at all kinds of levels, from local league to NBL.

Still having physio now, a year and half after the op. I've been told I could potentially go back to playing but the disruption to your life having such an injury is crazy...I couldn't drive for months after I first did it, and then again after the op!

So chances are I won't play again ;( Gutted, as I've been playing since I was about 14 [with only injury and illness stoping me for a year or two].

I do keep up to date with the NBA, via Instagram and on-line. I got the BT Sports app but don't really have chance to watch many of the games.

Hey bug4life. What teams did you play for ? We played everywhere from webba to national league so may have played each other. Just trying to get our team back up and running , you'd never think booking an indoor court would be so difficult !

I played for the Worcester Wolves, from about 2002 I think, for a good number of years...but then the club seemed to become more of a Uni team and all the local players got forced out, which was a pity.

The team i watched in the mid 2000's was taunton tigers because they played round the corner from my 1st house.

Was a awesome ride as we went on a run winning up a league each year , at one point greg streete was coming down from bristol to play for us .

Unfortunately a pokey little somerset town wasn't the right place to have a basketball team as they couldn't get sponsrs and eventually the men's team went tits up , was a great ride though for those few years.

Bit of a silly question, can anyone recommend a good outdoor ball?

I’m out of touch. Just get any Spalding?

Ok Spalding it is then biggrin

The synthetic leather is too slippery for me for outdoor use, I think I will get a rubber ball.
