Snooker noob question here;

If you're snookered and miss the shot, do you absolutely have to attempt the same shot repeatedly if you miss?

No.

Players can play any shot they like, normally it's the same shot as that's where they deem it's the safest place to leave the white. There may be easier shots to hit an object ball but the risk is the other player can then clear up and win the frame.
This is why the miss rule was brought in stop players gaining an advantage from a foul shot.

No. They do this because other options may leave a shot on for their opponent.

Miss rule is only really used in the Pro game though.

I know thats not exactly what you were asking, but in amateur games then different rules are usually used.

It was gone 2.30pm when first frame started and there's been a re-rack in the 2nd frame

I take it all* back, how could I even have thought I could root for Selby. Go Bingham.

*Not all of it, the other two are still utter dobbers.

I never was a fan of Bingham , but I am for today.

Selby sucks the life out of enjoying the game.

Hope the powers in the sport just pension Selby off.

It would be worth being escorted from the auditorium for shouting at Selby. Christ almighty he’s tedious. The less confident he is the more negative he gets.

Feel for the players when the commentators get a cheap laugh from the audience via headsets who in turn put the players off and the ref has to ask them to settle down

So Bingham manages to find a bit of mojo at the very last gasp. I wonder if he'll keep that going tonight when they come back to finish it off.

I hope so or the final won't be worth watching if Selby is in it,

Murphy's on it against Wilson in tonight's session... carrying on exactly from where he left off this afternoon's session..

Sort of feel sorry Wilson, Murphy is playing out of his skin again against Wilson.

Now that Ryan Pilkington in LoD is no more Selby has replaced him as person most likely to make me want to throw my shoes at the television. I know he divides opinion but don't mind seeing Smurf make the final. If Uncle Fester from Leicester does win tonight I really hope Shaun isn't suffocated by the anti snooker tactics. Also hope it doesn't run over to Tuesday..
