I think everyone should vote for him now - wouldn’t it be suitably british for him to win it now (in a boaty mcboatface kind of way).

And the awkwardness of the acceptance speech would be priceless TV.

Looking at this lot, after Froomes smear I reckon Hamilton will walk it.

I don't know who any of this lot are

The Panel comprised 12 members this year, with representatives from BBC Sport, BBC Radio 5 live, the UK broadcasting industry, UK-wide newspapers and UK sports bodies (in alphabetical order): Maggie Alphonsi, Philip Bernie, Darren Campbell, Danny Crates, Carl Doran, Katherine Grainger, Dominic Hart, Colin Murray, Eleanor Oldroyd, Alyson Rudd, Barbara Slater and Laura Williamson.

But clearly they know who the top sports people in the UK are ??
Ill accept that I dont know who all those names are, however:

Maggie Alphonsi is fairly famous as the black flanker for England ladies rugby team who won the World Cup.
Darren Campbell - 100m runner, World and Olympic medal winner.
Dame Katherine Grainger? Dame?! Rowing lass and now head of UK Sport I think.
Eleanor Oldroyd and Alyson Rudd are both high profile sports journalists for the BBC and The Times respectively.

Is Colin Murray the DJ?

The rest I dont know, but the ones above are pretty high profile.

Must be a common theme then; Konta, Froome, Farah any more unavailable..?

Not sure about Konta, but didnt they say Mo was in London where he was having a track name after him, i.e. double booked?
Froome is in camp in the Balerics, Im not sure SKY are going to let him to bugger off to Liverpool for some glitz with the BBC!

I'm not sure Hamilton is particularly likeable and (whilst I admit I don't know exactly how the voting works), Froome's chances must have gone down the pan this week. Plus, when it comes to sporting achievement I think people can relate better to what Mo does i.e. run a long way very quickly.

So after changing how the nominees are elected... The four women came last. Guessing that didn't go according to plan!

I think Konta should have been a lot higher but her year didn't end well.
