Seems like your ability to guess what'll happen is as poor as mine.

Good won for us to open with and some good spirit from the Afghans to throw the bat after losing a load of wickets.

Doh, missed it. Was the Afghanistan side the Camp Bastion first 11 or were they actually proper Afghans?

Unlike the one occasion when cricket was part of the Olympics and we played the French (or at least our Paris embassy side) all of them were of native variety

To score 196 when you first over is a wicket maiden is some decent going. But then I suppose 32 of an over does help the strike rate a little.

Tougher tests to come I suspect, but a winning margin of 116 runs is laughable. Can't see Afghanistan scraping through on net run rate somehow.

On another note, what a rubbish format, guarantees that the smaller teams can't get through. Might have been more interesting if there had been random selections for the groups. you might have had a group of death or a group with two minnows in it.

Hey ho...

That's exactly why this format is used. The minnows get to play the top flight teams, but don't progress to the Super 8s which is where the competition properly starts.

I wish. I don't think we have the bating if Watson and Hussey fail.

Just watched Pakistan v New Zealand. Pak with 177, should be a good run chase, need Ajmal and Gul to pick up wickets.
