Either that, or bowl Stokes out earlier and leave Willey or Jordan to bowl the last over.
To be fair Jordan was scary in the penultimate. We needed Willey or Rashid wearing a Stokes mask.

Marlon Samuels what a man. I remember in the 2012 final, Windies looked completely out, and he tore Malinga to bits and got West Indies a score they could defend.

bks , blame the batsman they were short to start with. The 3rd six nothing wrong with the ball he misst it , still went 80odd metres.

19 from six shouldn't be possible, we only needed dot balls or singles. That England should have set a better total (if that's what your rather strangely constructed first utterance is getting at, it's unclear) is true. Nonetheless 19 from six should be basically ungettable. So 24 from four...

Stokes, wker.

Simply not good enough from England.mad Clueless, indecisive batting and Morgan needs to GTFO right now as he contributes fk all with the bat and is a st captain.
Stokes needs to take a good look at himself as that last over was completely unacceptable considering the amount of talent he has.

And only 12 weeks before the Euro's, where we can watch another bunch of over-hyped, overpaid prima donnas fail yet again in national colours. Whoopie fking doo rolleyes

Hopefully Stokes will react to that over in the same way Broad reacted to being hit for 6 x 6s back in 2007 or 2008.

Have you just time hopped from the 90s ? 19 from six is more than possible in today's cricket.

Plainly. You just need to offer up four pies in the first four balls of an over... and there you go, job done. For clapton's sake man four sixes from four balls, it isn't actually possible to bowl a worse over, well unless you include potential no balls and wides, and that would merely be adding insult to injury.

The first one was a long hop no issues there but the second was a fraction full , the third he miss hit for 6. If you think all 4 were pies , you have either mistaken Stokes for a bowling machine or you need a new television.

19 runs an over is certainly more than possible in today's cricket however 19 runs in the last over of a 2nd innings is pretty rare.

Exactly. 13 from 6 was considered gettable when I was playing 20 odd years ago so 19 from 6 is obviously within reach now. I think you have to take your hat off to exceptional batting more than anything else. What a game! Thought England were down and out at not very many for 3.

Stokes just lost his bottle big time. To be smashed for 4 sixes consecutively in the last over...19 runs isn't impossible..but it's the way they got them.

Disappointing last over but England did pretty well all tournament. So close to winning it.

Rather unfair to single out Stokes. The batsmen never posted a high enough total to defend. Root and Buttler were the only ones to perform with any credit at the crease. Also Billings missed an easy catch which would have a put a lot more pressure on the Windies.

I agree I think the lad took his opportunity exceptionally well and deserved the win. We never lost it because of four balls we had 120 balls to put up a winning score and 120 to prevent them.Well done W.I.
