Do they make rackets with grips that size or is the best option to buy a size 6 handled racket and then use a padded grip, such as a hockey stick wrap?
Most brands stop at grip 5. You could put as many overgrips as you like BUT if you put more than 1 or anything thicker then you end up "rounding" the grip by losing the bevels. This will generate a rotating grip in your hand on off-centre hits unless you grip the racquet hard.. which will be a source of tension and promote... tennis elbow (amongst other issues). You can't winlaugh
biggrin Thanks for letting me know. laugh

giving up my right handed single-hand forehand and backhand and teaching myself how to play left handed single forehand
Wow, I can't even imagine doing that.
Needs as needs must - I was in agony with the tennis elbow but wanted to play tennis through the summer with my daughter. I started with a heavy elbow strap on my right elbow but playing tennis twice a week against my daughter and squash twice a week against my wife took its toll. The left handed tennis actually got pretty good as (as suggested above) I started to use my shoulder and hip rotation to help generate pace on my left arm - I used a lighter strap on my right arm to keep playing squash as best I could.

I could not play squash with my left arm - I could hit well enough but not generate anywhere near enough pace.

Thanks Nick. I was wondering about the Yonex, I gather it's a heavy beast.
That's slightly more of a beast and fails my 100+ frame size test by a little bit but it's very well priced if you can live with a grip 3 or 3+overgrip.

https://www.tennis-point.co.uk/yonex-ezone-tour-98...

I am quite tempted although I already have 3 recent Yonex so that's probably taking the proverbial.

The margins are very small indeed. I have both 3 and 4 grips and frankly I can play either. It should say on the butt cap what the size is usually as L1, L2, L3 etc. Or G1, G2, G3 etc...

Most people our height will be 3 or 4.

If you only have old raquets you'll be surprised how a modern one has improved in terms of dampening qualities built in the graphite.

A good cure for TE is to use your body rotation for power rather than your arm. This also helps topspin but you might have to change how to grip the racket for that (use at least an Eastern grip on your forehand if you don't already do).

Turn you shoulder more than usual by keeping your passive hand on the throat of the racquet during the back swing.

Google "tennis unit turn". Plenty of YouTube guides.

Thats brilliant advice. Print it and stick it on changing room wall. Hit from legs up, no arm. Racket back early, pull shoulder around. Left arm crucial in acheiveing this.
I've had 3 Cortizone shots around 5 years ago as single handed back hand as was 'arming' the ball. Chronic.
Then spent months with this, building up forearm, and improving unit turn.

Wilson Clash 100, 52lbs with Yonex Polytour fire. Mid 50's RA rating = no bad arm.

Good you're issue is solved - 50 to 52lbs sounds about right to minimise TE without losing too much control. I'll deffo try the Polytour next ; I don't even use a Yonex string across the 3 sticks, sacrilege. What gauge do you suggest?

1.25. Superb string and lasts. Used Heads for years, mainly MP, but even that gave me an arm. Babolats should come with health warning. Big bangers another rock hard string but arm killing string. More important is the RA or flex being lower, but the most critical is not arming the ball...

Naomi Osaka being reduced to tears by a heckler.
Surely he should have been thrown out but also heckling does come with the territory. She obviously help with how to deal with these things, would be good if Serena and or Venus gave her some support as both have been on the receiving end (no pun intended) in the past.
Hope she gets through it and goes on to more success.

I guess what's acceptable from fans in different sports is always going to be on a scale. I think fans can be chucked out of football matches for shouting certain things but it's still probably at one end of the scale. A snooker match might be near the other end of the scale. But where is tennis on that? I'd have thought that it was totally obvious to people nearby who was heckling but what should people do? I think I fall into the category of potential grassers. I'd point them out and let them be chucked out. But perhaps in real life that's easier said than done.

With 17 million quid in prize money, sounds like she can't be bothered any more.

I have a real admiration for Ash Barty
Not blessed with the same level of natural talent as others but she worked so hard and never gives in. A real lesson to other youngsters taking up any sport.

Not as sure myself. I’d rather take Nadal or Federer, who have achieved so much yet willing to undergo surgery and months of rehabilitation and training to get back out on the courts.

That's only enough for about a year if she intends to live the powerfully built company directing Pistonheader's lifestyle.smile

I'd respect both - it's impressive to keep coming back despite the injuries and all they have achieved. But it's also impressive to just stop despite being likely to go on and dominate the game and potentially break some new records, despite all the fame and money pressure.
