Very popular bulk 62gr 5.56 ammo.

Its a bit more expensive than your usual bulk stuff but IME very consistent so worth the premium.

First time posting on here. I've got a couple of handguns - Smith and Wesson M&P Shield .40 for concealed carry, and a Taurus PT 24/7 .45.

My next purchase will be a rifle - currently deciding between a Bushmaster ACP or a Smith and Wesson M&P 10. Although, having seen Jimmyjimjim's posts above, I might look at building my own.

I'd certainly build the lower myself. I imagine some of your colleagues probably have the tooling to help with building an upper. I'm not keen on the headspacing myself.

I've not seen GGG here, but there's plenty of other brands:

GGG is nothing special, just Nato spec ammunition, made in Lithuania. When they set up their factory, they did get in engineers from one of the US ammunition companies to make sure their machines were setup right so they could get their ISO and Nato certification. The NRA get their 7.62 Match ammo made GGG, because they came in cheaper than the deal they had with RUAG, a Swiss company they used to source it from.
We should really be shooting UK made ammunition, but the UK Government wouldn't let Radway Green (BAE Systems) sell to the public, although there is old stuff floating about - anything newer in peoples safes has fallen out of the back of an Army truck whistle
People want ammo that is accurate, reliable and easy on the wallet, GGG does that in the UK, well about 46p a round for 62gr SS109 rounds. Guys in the US can pick up Lake City made M855 (US designation for SS109) for the 30 cent ballpark.

Anyhow building AR's, I built a few when I was living in the US. Get a friend to help if you are unsure what you are doing. I was lucky I have a mate who was an ex armorer, who had made everything from M4's for the military contracts to M2 50 Cals, who I could ask for advise when I built my first one.

UK Govt don't really want UK public to be shooting anything, so no way will they allow BAe to make military spec ammo that will end up in public hands, even for the NRA rolleyes

Hell, we the UK, doesn't even make .303 British ammo anymore, and back in the 1980's when MOD ran out of it for the cadets, they had to contract the Greeks (HXP) to make some.

.40 cal?

It’s your funeral pal.

Haven’t you heard the FBI have switched to 9mm so all other calibers are now useless?

I carry .40 for work and there is no sign of us switching to 9mm anytime soon.

Hey Pesty, what do you mean by this ?

Im not up on FAC stuff at all and am very jealous of all the nice stuff I see on this thread.

Wish there was somewhere local and cheap I could use to do this, Clay busting is almost silly money round here these days.

I’ve just been reading too many American forums where the Caliber arguments get quite heated at times.

Currently there is a trend for hatred of the short and weak in favour of 9mm. Preponants of that round quote FBI as their appeal to authority.

.40 cal fans retort that is because FBI are pussies with weak wrists ( fbi just switched back to 9mm)
Them best mm fans will remind everybody that they only went .40 because they were big girls who couldn’t handle 10mm in the first place.

The Miami shootout will be referenced.somebody else will say they saw somebody get shot in the knee with a .380 and die so that’s all you need.

Then people talk about glocks blowing up, 45acp taking souls and .357 sig being a niche round that gives you nerve damage, it’s quite entertaining

Or when the 320 came out smile

Then 9mm fans will post memes like this.

Somebody will then say .22 kills more people a year. Somebody else will talk about bears then somebody will post the edc .454 casul ruger Alaskan then the threads get locked smile

It's one of the better factory rounds easily available in the UK though.

If I can't be bothered to reload and I'm shooting LR .223 or .308, the GGG 'match' comes very close to my best home loads.

MAIN POINT OF SELLING BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS EXTREME PRICE OF WEAPON AND CARTRIDGE.

BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON OF MAN WHO WEARS EXPENSIVE ITALIAN FASCIST SUIT OF HAND SEWING, DRIVE HUGE NAZI MERCEDES OF A.M.G. SHOP, SAIL ON MASSIVE YACHT TO GREEK ISLANDS. I THINK YOU GET PICTURE. BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON THAT SAYS IS NO SUCH THING AS CONCERN OF MONEY.

FOR MAN WITHOUT EXPENSIVE SUIT, BIG BLACK MERCEDES, AND MASSIVE YACHT, BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS FOR PRETENDING TO BE RICH LIKE BLACK GANGSTER OF AMERICAN CITY WITH GOLD CHAINS OF LOW QUALITY AND JEWELS OF COLORED GLASS. WHEN YOU EXPLAIN USE OF BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS ONLY FOR SHOOT MAN WITH BULLET VEST WITH CARTRIDGE ILLEGAL TO CIVILIAN. THIS MAN HAS NUCLEAR RAGE WHOLE IDENTITY OF THIS MAN IS SPENT IN PRETEND PISTOL SHOWS HE IS RICH. IS VERY AMUSE.

FOR REST OF WORLD THERE IS 9 MILIMETERS OF LUGER WHICH IS SAME WOUND FOR LESS COST.

I've shot .50 Alaskan out of a handgun, a bit of recoil was understatement - the gun did actually rise up enough hit someone in the head who wasn't expecting it! The guy who owned it had topped the load off with 50 BMG Ball bullets which are just over 700 grains. At 4000+ J (load dependent) of energy, the .50 Alaskan is just stupid for a handgun, and that's more energy than a 7.62/308 round..... I have to dig up photos from that day..

Sounds fun.

I’d like to try one and one only.

Hot .44 are unpleasant enough out of my rifle. Something like that I can’t imagine is fun.

Nope.

There's a memorial day sale on this.

https://f5mfg.com/product/mp5-rigid-case/

If I'd not just ordered a complete upper, I'd be in.

Back in the good old days, I've shot full on .44mag from a S&W Model 29, and I found it quite unpleasant, and frankly pointless, as all I could think of was ...... err, why?
.44spl was much nicer to shoot from a M29, as it allowed some degree of ability to hit a target at 25yrds, which is kind of the whole point.
Mind you, I never liked revolvers, just never really fitted my hands and always found the higher line if action harder to control than most semi-auto's.
