The PH Gun Cabinet - Shooting Matters

I think you are misunderstanding my use of the word 'repro'.
The C&R wording allows for original configuration, so making a 'repro' 4T from a normal No.4 is allowed, as its still in the same configuration as a wartime 4T, its just not a 'real' T. But a real T if matching numbers etc., is 20 times the cost of a No.4, but the bits to make a good shooting repro sniper 4T can be had for a fraction of that....especially in the USA.
Same thing with the K98 sniper.
Same thing with the M1903A1.
Got it - makes more sense. I'd read another article on the nuances of the licence last night, and they were at pains to point out that modern replicas of eligible rifles were not covered, which is what I thought you meant. The C&R wording allows for original configuration, so making a 'repro' 4T from a normal No.4 is allowed, as its still in the same configuration as a wartime 4T, its just not a 'real' T. As if Plod FET's don't have enough on their plate as it is!
Also, note Regulation 4, of the deferral date of March 2021 for those in possession prior to Sept 2018.
I'm glad I got rid of all mine several years ago, only kept one for sentimental reasons, but now wish I hadn't even done that.
There will be many, many people that will get caught out by this, just how exactly do they propose to make joe public aware of this?

But if they make people aware, then they may comply and therefore can't be prosecuted for having a homicidal gun shaped lump of inert metal. Think of all the media hysteria that would be avoided by not having the ability to pillory some otherwise law abiding citizen for not registering his granddad's WWII souvenir that was properly deactivated and is of no earthly use other than as a paperweight. aeropilot said:

That is a strangely worded piece of legislation. As if Plod FET's don't have enough on their plate as it is!

In regulation 3 it states that the national authority with which owners must register is stated in paragraph 4 of the regulation but no agency is listed in paragraph 4 or elsewhere.
As regulation 3 is written there is no way for people to comply until such time as the Act is amended to include details of where the registraiton must be sent. I can't see that happening before the implementation date and probably not for some time after.

You got to be joking me?
Which force is this?
You need to politely tell them that the keys are kept in a secure place that only you know about.
If they want more details they are going to have to change the law...
Rule 1 is keep your keys safe and secure in a place only you know about. If the police need to get into your cab then they will, its just going to make a mess. If you are on your death bed then arrangements will be made with an RFD which is a different situation of course.
But during the course of normal firearms ownership you should never ever allow anyone access or the ability to access your firearms even the police as they have no exemptions what so ever to access your firearms without warrant.
You need to read the regulations!
If you are a member on Full Bore I would get on there and ask for advice asap before the visit....
I just wanted to thank everyone again for their help. Which force is this?

The firearms officer has just left. He did not ask about the keys at all. He just asked me to show him my cabinet and to open it so that he can check that its secured properly to the wall.
Thats was it. He was a very nice chap.
I guess this was just the follow up to check the cabinet as I didn't have it in place on the first visit.
Well, it's just a curio and relic, which is as cheap and commonplace as you can get.
$30 for 3 years.
Fill out a form, get a cashiers check (my debit card was declined the first time and I had to re-submit - apparently this is common), send part of the form to the BATF, the other part to the chief local law enforcement office(Parker Sheriff in my case), job done. I have a feeling you might know your CLEO better than me, as I've never met him or had any contact with him apart from googling the name to fill in the form...
You can fill out the pdf electronically, I did that the second time as being easier.

I have. There are 18 suspect as I know the last two were fine.
But of a range of weights probably because brass varies but there are two that are quit a bit heavier one very much so. So I guess that’s the winner but I’ll pull both.
In shot 82 rounds today.
I don’t want to think how much that actually cost have you seen the price of Lead lately.

No, but I still have quite a few boxes of .30 Bergers here and they were pricey enough when I bought them There are 18 suspect as I know the last two were fine.

And I shoot a lot of slug, which is fairly expensive. And remember .50 is around £6 a round.
