Haha, yes I really thought he was celebrating too early and almost got caught.

Nice to see Greipel get the stage win and the Pink jersey yesterday, he's such a powerhouse of a sprinter that man!!

GT has lost skin and time on the Giro thanks to a police motorbike parking where it shouldn't.

Quintana looking strong

Been thinking since Saturday Tom Dumoulin could edge it

I think he will destroy the TT stages and ride within himself, as per Sunday on the steep climbs to not loose much times

Quintana looks strong, but he tends to dominate summit finishes , putting aside some key stages then I dont think he will build a big enough lead, or at least it will be very close

I was thinking that yesterday watching Dumoulin pull his lead out, I can't see Quintana being able to pull out an equivalent lead on all the hills. In mitigation, it seems he was unlucky with the wind yesterday as that would handicap the smaller rider on the TT. Also there are more hills than time-trials!

I'm still really looking forward to seeing how this giro plays out despite the moto-crash debacle putting such a big dent in the GC field. Will Nibbles find miraculous form at the end again? Can G salvage something?

Wow, what a crass show from Movistar, especially Quintana.

2 days ago, Dumolain neutralised the race because Quintana crashed. A self inflicted crash as well...
Today, there was not 1 hint of protest from movistar when katusha attacked. They used it as an excuse to go hell for leather themselves.

Until today, I was a Quintana fan.

Whether they should have waited, or not is possibly debatable. However, it really is time all these so called 'grey areas' were cleared up. You can't have a sporting event with the participants playing 'referee'...it's a recipe for confusion/ disaster; just because it's worked before is no reason to keep the status quo.
Time for the UCI and Race Directors to actually earn their money - and draw up some proper rules regarding race incidents; then the Race Director can decide what happens - not the teams/ riders.....

It's a great sport, but far too many occurrences that leave me thinking 'amateur hour'.

Apparently the Katusha DS called off the attack but Quintana & The Snake just pressed on...

It was live on telly. When people pressed on during Quintana's downtime, Dumoulain ranted at them. When Katusha attacked, movistar waited then took their turn.
Quintana's interview "the other team attacked". bks.

Should Landa have been told to slow down if Doumalans group slowed down?

This is the problem where a high financial stakes professional sport is governed by "unwritten" rules of "gentlemanly conduct".

I was already doubtful after the motorcycle incident then add Dumoulin and his emergency dump and it starts to look like Movistar have a win at any cost attitude that is inconsistent with the spirit of the unwritten rules.

I'm not sure the solution is to change the rules from unwritten to written.

Landa is 40 or so minutes down and not a threat to GC....

With a "Granfondo" as your username I would have thought you would understand a bit more about professional cycling.

This is going to make for an interesting ITT stage. I'm still hoping Dumoulin will take it. I'd quite like Pinot to displace Nibali on the podium too but that's largely because I have the former in my Velogames squad!

Dream result: dumolain win, quintNa overcook a downhill and crash yet again, pinaut to beat nibbles by 20s and take the place.

Silly, until this race I was a quintana fan.
