It's a race, screw all the waiting nonsense with mechanicals and piss stops. In fact with mechanicals, the hammer should be put down extra hard IMO.

I don't think he's professional yet, but is anyone else keeping an eye on Tom Pidcock's progress. British, European and World junior CX champion and recently turning his hand to the road.

First in Paris-Roubaix juniors and recently showing some class in British road races, including first in the Durham event of the Tour Series. Pretty incredible for a 17 year-old - hope he continues to progress, looks a really exciting 'racer'.

these men spend a lot of time together more now than ever and they need to trust each other and an element of sportsmanship has been held in the Peleton for many many years. You don't attack a Tour leader when he is having a dump.

Let's flip the question?

Are you a true champion and sportsman if you only won a three week race/GT because someone had an emergency dump? Or snapped a chain? Or a team car parked on a blind corner?

Honour and peer pressure seems to be heading towards Football??

Didn't Nibali attack Froome a couple of years ago when he had a mechanical but denied seeing it. Maybe there are not enough leader left in the Peleton even Armstrong kept order when he was in his pomp.

Yep, and the same race (?) threw a bottle at Froome for 'causing a crash' when Nibbles had knocked Froome off. Hence me calling him a child earlier on.

Not a true Champion in any sense of the word. His time will come and natural justice will be applied.

Come on, he's a bit hot headed I agree - but there's no doubt he is a superb bike rider. He's won all the grand tours and is one of the best descenders on a bike!! Takes a lot of skill and bravery that smile

He even had a pop at TD saying he might not even make the Podium. He lacks class of the bike for sure.

Win at the expense of everything - and dressing up exploiting others misfortune (not their idiocy - their misfortune) in quasi-positive terms like 'opportunistic' seems to be the mantra in sport....and life in general really.

I don't like it terribly much. I acknowledge this means I am getting left behind - and so be it.

I don't think you are winning at all costs isn't always attractive in Sport just look at the Russians Athletes at the moment.
There has to be an element of comradeship in the Peleton or the Sport will lose something . Just look at the Brownlee Brothers exploits last year their Sportsmanship (albeit Brothers) made a huge impact on people so I hope winning at all costs never totally replaces true sportsmanship.

great week for Steve Cummins he won both the Time Trial and the Road Race on the Isle of Man last week so after a really nasty crash he looks good to go for the TDF.
Mark Cavendish also rode and finished so hopefully he will ride himself into form and win a stage or two. Not long to wait now.

The 2018 season is well underway and in full Classics mode with Paris - Roubaix this Sunday.

Niki Terpstra has already taken wins at E3 and the Tour of Flanders, with Peter Sagan taking Gent-Wevelgem.

Will GvA take back to back wins at P-R, can Terpstra continue his classics form, could Philip Gilbert or Zdenek Stybar be in with a chance or will Sagan take the spoils?

I saw Sagan was in the press with this years variation on his annual battle cry saying "everyone needs to stop watching me and start watching Quick Step".

I can't wait for this. I think it will be a Quickstep win, but it's the grand national of bike races so who knows really!

Sagan takes it from 53km ahead of Dillier.

Tragically though Michael Goolaerts suffered a heart attack on the bike and died later in hospital frown
