Barney knocked out in the first round, this last year has been a nightmare for RVB. A great player in his day, played in one of the all time classic finals, but probably should have retired last year.

She has been amazing, didn’t expect her to beat Sulovich.

If you take your chances on the doubles, you can be out scored all game and still win. She hit them and Mensur didn’t and that’s the difference. Well deserved win!

Absolutely. Great performance especially after going 2-0 down in the set, she deserved the win.

How big a brown envelope do you think the PDC might offer Chris Dobey to have an off day against her in the next round? She's getting the sort of publicity of the sport that money just can't buy.

So, another upset this afternoon? Will the crowd get on Dobey's back as they did Sulovic?

I appreciate no one has done it before at this level but there are plenty of ladies that play darts at pubs and in leagues so surely it's not a surprise that sooner or later one will win something.

I play in a local league, one the best players is a girl, in her early twenties, she can chuck 180's and 100+ finishes for fun, she makes most of the men look very ordinary!

Fallon has been given a spot in all of the world series events next year. Absolute no brainer for the PDC really. Hope she does well.

Peter Wright had been trying to get in his head earlier (below from BBC website), but they get on:

Price will now face seventh seed Wright, who had predicted Durrant would upset the Welshman.

"I played decent and was clinical when it mattered - Glen outplayed me early on but I hung in there and took the doubles I needed," said Price.

"Peter thought I was going to lose 5-2, so now I'm going to smash him 6-0!

"Actually I get on with him brilliantly, I think he was just trying to get in my head."

Darts used to be a decent night out, I went to the Premier League event in Birmingham a few years back and it wasn't a bad night out for £25 (I think).

But now, I barely watch it. The beered up crowd have a repertoire of five or six songs, most of which are pinched from football and it's just so boring these days. Think it has reached its peak now.

LOL

Darts is a massive pleb sport, that's how it always was and how it always will be.

It has, and when everyone is in fancy dress, what’s the attraction still? Went a decade or so ago (in civvies) and it was a good night. It’s still good darts and theatre on the TV if you pay attention to the actual match ... no different from football in many respects, same old songs, etc.

I'm a pleb then, I love it,

MvG will smash Snake Bite, I was hoping Price would get to the final to make it a little less one sided.

I love watching it when I'm in the mood, with a beer or two in front of the TV. The thought of attending one of these events fills me with horror. Glover Mart will get the comparison, all the crowd of a football match with none of 5he action to watch.

I run a taxi business and a few years ago was booked to take 8 lads to Exeter Westpoint to watch the darts. They were in 'good' spirits going down, but OMFG coming home... Waiting at the designated taxi pick up, the number of times I was asked to take a group of slurry bananas, Super Mario's, various Super Heroes, was frightening. My group, although not in fancy dress, were just as frightening. Never have I driven up the M5 so quickly (and smoothly!!) in a Renault Trafic desperately hoping not to hear that 'cough' that signifies disaster. Luckily we got home safely. I saw one of the lads a few days later and he said not one of them remembered anything at all past nine that evening. Where's the pleasure in that?

Anything darts related (and sometimes Exeter Chiefs) gets a "sorry, we are already fully booked" now.

The up and down of MVG versus the consistency of Snakebite, I think it's a decent match up and potentially closer than most. MGV does have previous for switching off and having dips in the long format, it depends on how far he is infront when he has one for me and if Snakebite is close enough to take full advantage.

Overall, I think the standard has dropped this year - cut through the hyperbole from Sky and the smaller wires and it's not that great at the moment.

TL:DR

Fallon Sherrock has done well. Is she allowed to compete equally alongside men?

Are darts competitions open to all?
