Just read that Hashim Amla has retired. What a player and ambassador for the sport he has been.

The Rapids are my nearest team, great to see them doing so well, and very pleased for Moeen Ali who has suffered being dropped from both the Test and the OD team.

I really thought the Outlaws would walk this having seen Hales and co in action a few weeks back.

What a lovely day for the final.

Hope the Essex Eagles can win the final and then go on to seal the County Championship next week.

Great final, well done Essex, especially Ravi Bopara, they left it pretty late. I bet there are some horrendously pissed people at Edgbaston.

This has to go down in history as the most dramatic, wonderful, nerve-shredding, exciting season of cricket the game has ever seen.

One of those, I want everything whenever I want it, and if you take something away its unfair, regardless of my behavior.

A proper man child.

I don’t need to like someone to enjoy their sporting achievements, but he was told how to behave and didn’t listen, seems he never listens.
He’s been a bit wild since he was a kid....went to my kids school...very nearly got expelled Aged 11. Fantastic cricketer though!

I have been reading back on Hales and Stokes.

Why is it that Aussie Cricket can accept that people fk up and after their suspension they can rejoin the World Cup team [although the Barmy Army will give them hell!]; yet English cricket can't accept the same principle.

To me it seems that the the ECB and some of the "senior" players don't like outliers and can't wait for the chance of eliminating them from the team. Yes, the likes of Hales has done wrong but has served his sentence.

This could have a big impact on England and the World stage.
It’s a different case in that the Aussies obeyed team orders rather than disobeyed team rules....the three that took the rap did it for them team but apparently Warner wanted to sue to get the ban shortened. He didn’t because Smith wouldn’t do it.

The idea that the three of them acted in secret without the rest of the team knowing is just ludicrous. But then the ACB wouldn’t know because it never interviewed the rest of the team...

I was genuinely moved by Marcus Trescothick's final game, ending a 27 year career. It was like seeing someone's jovial old dad coming on for five overs.

A lot of bald in that photo.

Still, well deserved.

Slightly off topic, just been watching Pointless. They had a cricketing question round. Judging by the low scores on answers that any cricket fan would avoid as too obvious and likely to be high scoring, fk me the public's cricket knowledge is dire.

Several pointless answers from our house. bounce

True, but for example one question was, name an International Cricket team that has beaten England more than 6 times in test matches. First answer given, Australia. Reaction from our assembled numpties, that's a daft answer, it will be correct but get a massive score. Out of a hundred people questioned, it was indeed the top answer, but 14 only.

Name an England men's cricket captain who has captained more than 6 tests, Joe Root, mentioned by 1.

Most of the questions on that show appear very easy if you have any knowledge of the subject matter whatsoever. I remember a while back one of the categories in the final round was something like sporting Williams, within which they had to name F1 drivers who have raced for Williams. Pretty much every driver they've ever employed was a pointless answer except Mansell and Hill.
