My son plays County Age Group cricket...talking to one of the coaches this week their thoughts based on latest ECB communications were no adult recreational cricket at all and some junior friendly cricket . The most ridiculous thing is that my 11yr old son’s County U11’s team is considered “part of the elite pathway” by HM Govt so currently ruling is that for them to play a County game they’d have to undergo the same protocol as the professional players. Testing twice a week etc fking madness!
There’s other problems they’re trying to work out like where the umpire stands....current thought is they stand to the right (assuming right arm over) and once the bowler passes them they step to the left to get in line !
This may all change one the 2m rule goes though.
That movement of the umpire is a no-no. It's hard enough to make a correct lbw decision when stood in the same spot, without having to make a snap decision within a nano-second of moving to a different standpoint. There’s other problems they’re trying to work out like where the umpire stands....current thought is they stand to the right (assuming right arm over) and once the bowler passes them they step to the left to get in line !

If the 2m rule gets dropped it will hopefully be a moot point. It’s all a bit daft as the amount of recorded cases of transmission outside is tiny based on studies. Sitting in an air conditioned office 20m away from someone infectious is much more likely to get you infected than umpiring a game of cricket. Cricket is suffering from blunt tool’s being used as a control mechanism.

England vs Australia T20, 2005. The first match of the epic Ashes tour.
I've seen it before, and I'll happily watch it again. And again.
I was delighted to discover that a repeat of the 2010 T20 World Cup Final followed our drubbing of the Crims in the '05 T20 at the Rose Bowl (as it should be referred to).England vs Australia T20, 2005. The first match of the epic Ashes tour.

I therefore spent yesterday watching England beat HMP Australia twice at T20. Very enjoyable it was, too.
First net of the season on Thursday
Maximum of 6 of us and everybody has to have their own ball and equipment
Still, looking forward to giving the willow a waft. Joining a new club and coming out of retirement didn't really aim to be taking hour long turns in isolation on the heavy roller and doing a zoom quiz once a fortnight

We’ve had outdoor nets for several weeks now.
All done on a booking system and works well.
However, just not the same as a good match with the social side that goes with it.
Such an easy game to play while distancing, and with a bit of fore thought we should be playing matches from July.
Petition here to sign - I know it’s often futile, but you never know...

I've given him the benefit of the doubt for sometime, but bojo has lost the f*cking plot now in his excuses for recreational cricket not starting, teas and changing rooms...ffs
Teas wouldn't be happening, dressing rooms, would be closed and people have to turn up and leave without using the changing rooms
It's not rocket science ffs.
There's a lot of stuff people blame the gov for on this virus, 95% is unfounded as its unprecedented and everything is being said with the wisdom of hindsight, and no one can honestly say hand on heart any other government would have done better. a government of any color was damned if they do, damned if they don't in this pandemic and anyone who says differently is lying (his biggest mistake was not forming a government of national unity with all parties involved so this couldn't have been made political, but that's for the news section which its wise to stay clear of).
but this is just ridiculous.

Easiest game to socially distance with a bit of thought.
Just said cricket to resume next weekend!

We just need to get the juniors back to matches to keep them interested.

Don’t forget “buffet bowling”.
By the way, anyone else sitting on Lord’s tickets? Several months ago, I paid for the whole family to go to the ENG v AUS ODI in July. Considering Cricket Australia has no fixtures planned until August (Home v ZIM), why hasn’t Lord’s informed the spectators and refunded their money?
Looking forward to watching ENG v AUS at Lord’s on Saturday. They’ve still not e-mailed to say otherwise and refunded the ticket money, so it must still be on.
