I got a Sky Sports cricket subscription when they did the 10 quid a month offer for the world cup. There were good enough to suspend subscription costs last year when there was no cricket on. I did naively assume they'd have, at the minimum all the major matches like the awesome Australia India series but no I'd have to have BT Sport to watch them.
When are the BBC getting cricket anyway?

Now tv have just sent an apology email... whoops,,
"sorry - we made a mistake in our previous email. We incorrectly included information about the India & England Test Series. Unfortunately, we don’t have the rights to that series and are sorry for any confusion caused. We do, however, have other great cricket to watch this month. The second test of Pakistan v South Africa is available to watch from 4 – 8 February on Sky Sports Cricket."

Well here we go. After a winter that's seen our square relaid and investment in a new batting cage and refurbishment of our sightscreens, the Wetherby league begins in earnest on Saturday
We've managed a couple of net sessions and a 30 over inter-club game before the season starts. I even got the obligatory yorker on the bog toe from the 1st XI opening bowler so have an extremely purple lower extremity to contend with
Sheer lunacy from the committee - they've effectively made me undroppable by giving me the 2nd XI captaincy. It's only village cricket, we play with 3-4 under 15s every week and just aim to be competitive and win a few (squad rotation to make sure every gets game time), but I'm so glad it's finally here (last year was my first season back after a 12 year retirement)
BRING IT ON!!

This post signifies quite clearly just how much "grass roots sport" is vital for the community's mental health. Your excitement shines through, you're busting to get out there and you obviously enjoy being involved... fair play to you..... Hopefully the warm weather will return otherwise your toe won't be the only purple extremity you have to worry about!

It's a great spirit at the club. We've even been taking it in turns to go up and take turns doing some PSR (pre season rolling) so the square has had loads of time spent on itHopefully the warm weather will return otherwise your toe won't be the only purple extremity you have to worry about!
I had a week off a fortnight ago and spent hours rolling the outfield (very therapeutic if you haven't tried it)
The 2nd XI is also a family affair - I have 4 dads and lads in there to accommodate. Last year the under 15s were our top 3 wicket takers and one of them I batted 3 last week against the 1sts - his Dad opened with me and got a duck and then son then proceeded to bat 25 overs before we retired him to give someone else a bat. Dad then dropped a catch off son's bowling as well
