Great fight for George, and easily his best chance at a world title so far.

Should hopefully set up some very interesting fights late 2017 or 2018 with Degale/Smith- maybe Eubank Jr?
I'd say so (though Chudinov is no mug and can consider himself unlucky not to be going into the fight as defending champion and with his '0' in tact). Groves has also said his last two opponents were picked with Chudinov specifically in mind; that said, hope Groves isn't carrying any major psychological scars from his last fight...horrible post-script and certain Groves would not have wanted that to have happened.

AJ is a supreme athlete, can't ever remember seeing someone so well conditioned. That however will not be enough to get him over the line against someone with the ( albeit ageing) quality that Wlad has.
I'd like to see Wlad win and bow out, AJ has plenty more time to cement his place. Right now though I'd have to side with AJ, I just think it's a step too late for Wlad.

Bruno always looked as well conditioned, and he struggled to keep going in the later rounds. I do however think it's a couple of years too late for Wlad.

Imagine starting your promising professional career against a one fight bum. Horrible management of a fighter.
In action tonight. Opponent this time is a bit more respectable (fighting Mr Bean would be a step up from his debut) Blaise Mendouo of Cameroon. Bronze medalist at the 2010 commonwealth games.

In other news, George Groves has been added to the undercard for Brook v Spence. Fighting Fedor Chudinov for the WBA title. Really hope he wins it this time round.

Did anyone see Khurtsidze v Langford

Looks like Khurtsidze v BJS could be an entertaining fight.

Tough knockout, it looked like a bit of a nothing punch too, just right on the bottom. BJS needs to get back in the gym/ring and prove himself.

Good to see Martin Murray back at middle weight as well, I think if he can make the weight comfortably he's got another title shot in him, I think he won that contest by a few rounds at the weekend, judges did themselves no favours, one had it 109-119 another had it drawn at 114-114... Wtf! I can see why the American lad was frustrated.

Porter vs. Berto was a messy fight with all the head clashes. Two very similar fighters going at it.

Don't know what came over Berto in round 8, he spent all of the round getting battered on the ropes. Corner should have thrown the towel in after that as he was out on his feet. The two standing 8 counts and eventual TKO in round 9 were testament to that.

Sets up a rematch between Porter and Thurman but I'd rather see Thurman take on the winner of Brook vs Spence. That's a fight I don't think I can pick a winner from.

Why would Wilder want a fight? Surely it makes most sense for him to keep his 0 and wait for the winner of AJ v Wlad. Huge pay day for him whatever the result.

Win or lose I'm not sure Vlad is going to be around this time next year, AJ won't be ready to fight again until late Autumn.

Wilder knows that he's at a point in his career now where he's not going to get away with fighting anymore also rans, with the drugs testing taking out half the field of late, it's Parker or Luis Ortiz next and it will have to be before the autumn (Parker being the easier option), bills will be mounting up.

Despite his big power I don't really rate Wilder all that much. Those windmills....

Anyway, I think I do see him beating Parker. Parker looked awful in the Ruiz fight and Wilder can actually box and keep guys with limited head movement on the end of his punches like we saw in the Stiverne fight.

Team Fury is an odd one for me. I heard through the grapevine not long after the Klitschko fight that both Hughie and Tyson had been suspended due to positive PED results. There are rumours that a gagging order is in place and that although it can't be made public, neither of the Fury's can fight until the ban is up. Neither of them have fought since...

Not sure how true it all is though.

the whole situation was a puzzling one...why didn't UKADA release the positive nandrolone test until after the klitschko upset?...i do believe the overwhelming pressure on him was a contributory factor in him getting bagged for cocaine..that felt like a deliberate ploy to get out of the rematch a second time...

but onto hughie......nobody is being straight about the reason for cancelling at short notice against parker...if he was still under scrutiny and suspension by the BBBC then surely the WBO should have reacted rather than allowing him to fight anyway?

the whole fking thing stinks...

i just hope there's no problems on the home run to getting wlad and aj in the ring...that would proper ruin my weekend.....

Yep. I agree with you. The whole thing stinks.

Fingers crossed buddy, I'm really looking forward to this one. Keep going back and forth on how it'll pan out too.

i can honestly see either one of them getting stopped for different reasons.......joshua is an absolute monster finisher when he gets someone on the hook and while his feet aren't quick his hands are good in clusters of shots(single shots not so much weirdly)....even though he hangs his chin up in the air.....if he does manage to stagger wlad with anything you know he's going to pile in recklessly to get the job done.....

.....and there lies how wlad could easily get the stoppage.......he's more likely to keep it long and draw the mistakes to try and take him out late but it COULD go down the way wlad/pulev did if joshua goes at him like a bull at a gate....wlad could go left hook happy if joshua gets a bit untidy.....and bang him out early

I see it the same way. I watched the Klitschko vs Pulev fight last night and those leading left hooks would demolish Joshua if he lets them go and Joshua doesn't bring his hand back to guard. I have been watching some training snippets where it seems as though Joshua is in fact bringing his right hand back to guard his chin quickly so they're obviously cautious of it.

I think it'll be a cagey affair until one of them gets clipped. I just can't see it going to a decision unless Wlad gets gun shy and Joshua freezes on the big stage. I feel as though it'll be a spectacular stoppage for either one of them.
