Surprised to hear that Eubank jnr doesn't have big KO power, I hadn't watched him fight prior to Groves, but had somehow got the impression he was a puncher. If he isn't then not sure what he can go on to achieve.
Oh don’t get me wrong; I don’t think you’d describe him as feather-fisted either...just that he’s that type of fighter who’s more likely to get success through punch accumulation rather than single shot power.Of his higher profile fights, I can only think of the win against Yildirim that’s been a big KO. Against O’Sullivan, Blackwell, Chudinov and Quinlan, the stoppages have essentially come through the volume of shots landing, round after round...likewise with the points win against Abraham.
I think that’s where a lot of people were expecting him to have success against Groves too, and hence why he got a lot of criticism for loading up on shots too much. Personally, I’m not sure whether, after the win against Yildirim and Groves’ reputation of having a weak chin, Eubank really did fancy his chances of a big KO, or whether he was trying for that as a Plan B because he quickly realised that he wasn’t good enough technically to deal with the quality of Groves’ ring generalship to be able to overwhelm him...

Thanks for that.Edited by Yiliterate on Saturday 16th June 16:28
Hope he can improve but I'm going to bet against him, think the boxing brain is just not there.

1) he needs a jab
2) he needs to learn how to move backwards and sideways working off that jab
3) he needs to learn to REact rather than just act
i reckon if he garners a little more finesse generally all of his other attributes will become more effective
A long time ago now,but what I remember is that groves controlled the range, and Eubank had no ideas of how to close in. Hence why a defensive bloke like Mayweather snr seems strange but then I suppose defense relies on improved footwork and dodging shots so that may well get him in. Senior's character may also get Eubank to chill out a bit as far too intense. 2) he needs to learn how to move backwards and sideways working off that jab
3) he needs to learn to REact rather than just act

But gut feeling is still that Mayweather snr is old now, and nuts Plus I remember him pricing himself out of a Oscar fight with a demand for 2 million so may bleed Eubank jnr dry!

no mate, he started with his dad in the amateurs, went pro with billy nelson but returned to his old man....blistering form at the moment!
Ta. The commentary last night on the Kelly fight sort of suggested he was. I know next to nothing about him but he certainly looks exciting.

Anyone watch the cruiserweight bout between iqbal / vallily? Watched the first 3 rounds and it was just loosening up but had to go out
st fight mate, vallily was constantly punching low and fouling...ended in a draw because vallily had 2 points taken away.that's come around quick!...thought it was still a few weeks away!...
risky fight for taylor at this early stage. postol really hasn't put a foot wrong and in his only loss he didn't exactly disgrace himself dropping a decision to the mighty terrence crawford!...this fight will show us how good taylor really is...eyebrows were raised in his trouncing of davies but it's fair to say no matter how good he has looked so far postol is a massive step up in class.

Lee McAllister (ex wbu LIGHTWEIGHT champion) is next month fighting HEAVYWEIGHT Danny Williams in an unlicensed affair.
This is fking insanity.
Sure I read an article on Williams and his unlicensed boxing matches ......think he’s fallen on hard times iirc. This is fking insanity.
