Even if they were the same weight, Lomachenko is just a better boxer. That's not me knocking Rigondeaux either as he lifts his game against better opponents but Lomachenko is just sublime. He would hardly land a glove on Lomachenko and just wouldn't be able to keep Lomachenko from landing.

The time for that fight was when Loma was at 126lbs - Rigo wouldn't go up 4lbs from 122lbs though and apparently Loma wouldn't take a catchweight at 124lbs. So I'd be stunned if Rigo was willing to go up 8lbs now...unless he feels he's done now and just wants to cash in his chips.

O/T slightly, but there's a nice little documentary on Netflix called CounterPunch.

Follows some amateur boxers in the USA and is a nice little watch if you like boxing

From an entertainment point of view, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3582020/?ref_=vi_close released last month, a washed up boxer sorting out his life.

Hmmm...not sure this bodes too well:

http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/revealed-the-story...

It was rumoured that Saunders' split with Jimmy Tibbs was due to him not living the life outside the ring; now he splits with Adam Booth for fundamentally the same reason before the two have even had one fight together (although, in fairness, he's not the only high profile name to have come and gone with Booth in relatively short order; Chris Eubank jr, David Price, Nathan Cleverly...though I've no idea what was behind the splits of any of those three examples).

Saunders is now looking to get his career (and life?) back on track by moving away from his friends, family and other distractions. I wish him the best because he undeniably has talent - as wins over Eubank and Andy Lee evidence - but this feels more like a role of the dice than a well-planned strategic move...

well if his next fight is indeed lemieux in september he can't afford to be distracted at all...one lapse in concentration and it's lights out

^ I like watching the IFL TV stuff on Youtube, they interview people really well and naturally and seem to capture the true nature of the interviewees in an informal sort of way... Anyway it's pretty clear to me from the stuff they've done with BJS that the lad has some sort of attention deficit issue, he's all over the place. He'll run out of choices eventually, Adam Booth should command anyones respect but the Ingle set up definitely will, he's close to the Furys, I'm not sure why he doesn't train with them full time to be honest. There is no doubt he's a very good talent and he should be competing at the highest level for the next few years.

Might well be enough to get the winner an invite into the Cruiserweight 8-man tournament that's being pulled together. Reigning WBC and IBF title-holders Mairis Breidis and Murat Gassiev have already signed up, along with former two-time world champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, so he'd be in good company!
I really really hope this tournament happens!
WBA 'regular' Cruiserweight belt-holder Yunier Dorticos now signed up as well...really starting to take shape!

http://www.worldboxingnews.net/2017/06/22/news/cru...
Hopefully Usyk will sign up.

Bellew should stay at home if he knows what's good for him.
Looks like Marco Huck has been added to the Cruiserweight tournament as well. Probably coming a couple of years too late for him but great addition nonetheless. That's now two fully-fledged world champions, a 'regular' champion and two former champions signed up!

Super-Middleweight tournament taking a bit more time to come together. Jamie Cox and Eric Skoglund (latter coming down from Light-Heavy) have now been announced - both unbeaten but, I think it's fair to say, both looking to make their name rather than adding their name, if that makes sense...

Oh dear ;(

Although to be fair I think Benn could still be quite competitive.

"It's about the final chapter," Benn said. "It's about closure.

"It's just about money, a payday." Collins said.

I know who I believe!

given cox was about to fight rocky fielding i'm shocked he's in this tourney....i understand why he's taken this route but guys like george groves are going to be coming far too soon for him i think.

Huck will be a good addition to the cruiserweight tournament , but yeah, he's definately on the downside of his career now..

the cruiserweight round robin is going to be spectacular. i can't remember a time in the division where it's been as strong as it is now....

As someone said a while back (can't remember who, but I think they knew what they were talking about), there's a good reason why they don't have a 'Masters' or 'Seniors' series in boxing like they do in tennis and golf...

dead right pal....36 minutes of fist fighting is likely going to be more impacting long term than a leisurely stroll round birkdale!
