Lots of boxing over the weekend - Here's what I think:

Saunders fight was a really, really boring snooze fest. He did come out on top in a match where it was hard to look good, but not as slick as I thought he would be. Not sure about fighting Khan but he's not getting GGG or Canelo so needs to stay active. Match up with Lemeiux would be nice to say his ability (and ability to take a dig) and what was meant to be anyway.

GGG Canelo scoring is bad. I had GGG by 2 round being generous to Canelo - I can see some people may give another for the draw - but for me the constant pressure from Golovkin took close rounds. Controlled the ring much better. I had 116-112 to GGG, 115-113 would be good as well. 118-110 is outrageous either way for me.

I don't want Haye Bellew again. I don't care about Rio Ferdinand.

What do we think about the weekend?

Can't see Campbell getting much joy against Linares who is a real class operator.

Fury v Parker is an interesting one. Everything I see says Parker wins but I wouldn't feel confident to bet on it.

So Jamie Moore is Carl Frampton's new trainer and he's now signed an advisory deal with with Matthew Macklin's outfit MTK Global.

I don't know why, and I hope I'm wrong, but I get the feeling this will not end up the way he dreams it to be.

Forgot this was on this weekend, with all the excitement recently... Now missed the Early Bird pricing!

Odds are against him, but I wouldn't rule out Campbell...he's come on a massive amount since the loss to Mendy. Maybe, just maybe, he's catching Linares at the right time too. He looked great against Crolla but those were two pretty tough fights and at 32 with a long career behind him, he can't carry on forever...

Looking forward to Campbell vs Linares, shame its on overseas and at stupid o clock again. Eddie should have got Linares back over here.

I don't think Luke was right against Mendy as there was definitely something missing that night. I am looking forward to a corking fight - Luke is tougher than he looks and will give it a good go.

Possibly...I just got the feeling that Mendy showed Campbell to be a tad one-dimensional and he ended up looking a little short of ideas in that fight. It could be because he was having an off-night, or it could be that it was that step-up in class away from domestic level to fringe world level. I'd certainly say there's been a distinct development in his offence since then, particularly in his body attack (tusc posted on here about Derry Mathews showing him a particular shot that Campbell used to great effect against him!).

got to agree there...that loss was probably the best thing to happen to him at that point because he certainly seems to have improved a lot since then..wicked,wicked body attack on that lad. and watching his speed live up close was crazy. i had to watch it again when i got home because i missed most of it!

Link to CompuBox (includes round-by-round data; scroll down):
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/l...golovkin-wor...

CompuBox ------> GGG landed about 50 more punches in the fight
CompuBox ------> GGG landed more punches in 10 of the 12 rounds
CompuBox ------> Canelo landed more power shots in 7 of the 12 rounds

My scorecard = 8-4/9-3 for GGG in the bout.
[116-112 or 117-111 for GGG]

I'll continue to add scorecards as people post them or I find them.

TOTALS through post #175 of the thread

114 = GGG won
021 = Draw
008 = Canelo won [includes 2 Golden Boy promoters]

114/143 = 80% had GGG winning the fight.
021/143 = 15% had a draw.
008/143 = 05% had Canelo winning the fight.

gutted....one of the best middleweights to ever lace them up....it's a pleasure to say that years ago i met the guy at a dinner event. lovely bloke and seemed to genuinely enjoy talking about his fight with marcel cerdan and had the good grace to admit had cerdan not injured his arm early in the fight he would likely have been beaten.

I believe he was the oldest living world champion. Any idea who replaces him?

was she living over here or were you over there pal?

i found out the night i met him he'd lost one of his sons in a plane crash apparently.
meeting and talking to him it was hard to align the lovely old fella in front of me with the bad , bad man he'd been earlier in his life.
