Some slightly surprising noises coming from Eddie Hearn around Joshua's next opponent, should he beat Parker. He's been talking about Jarrell Miller in NY in the summer, assuming Miller gets past Duhaupas in April. Makes perfect sense in terms of helping build Joshua's profile in the US ahead of a fight with Wilder towards the end of the year...but it looked like the idea of getting Povetkin over to fight on the undercard of Joshua-Parker was to build the profile of the forthcoming WBA mandatory Joshua would have (again, assuming he doesn't lose to Parker), which seemed to be the aim for the summer...
watched that last night mate....first thing i said to her was that joshua is being lined up to fight big baby.....st fight to milk more cash from the fans...get past parker and it should be a povetkin or equivalent......how come nobody is talking about pulev any more??

fking nausiating levels of petty squabbling about who's car is fastest round the ring and all manner of horse st.....the gentleman in question seems to spend all his time on pistonheads alluding to his extensive wealth and bragging about his collection of mclaren cars...
RL?

He's coming back to Lamborghini ownership unfortunately. I don't wish to have anything in common with him hehe

Exactly. He never shut up about carbon tubs (any vehicle without one was a waste of time) and now he won't shut up about naturally aspirated engines because his Lamborghini will have one. Him and yipper need a good slap.

I had to pull him up a bit here. He gets on my tits.

I imagine that part of wanting to get Joshua out in the US before the Wilde showdown will be about Matchroom cementing their ideas and connections over there before really committing the $millions that will be in play for Joshua vs Wilder. Hearn is great at what he does and has put on some massive shows in the UK but translating that to a US super fight must still be nerve jangling, even given Wilder seems to be a legit guy with a legit team.

Hearn also has to get Jacobs out in the US regularly now on decent sized events and the prospect of Ward vs Bellew is massive state side too because of the whole Hollywood connection, so he'll be looking at making no mistakes or upsetting anyone in the US in the shirt term.

"You don't half talk some carp at times, but at least its amusing to watch you make yourself look like a clown. Spyder hasn't even be launched or specs confirmed so would love to see your order form
I've always wanted the coupe for March you donut and my dealer who I have a very good relationship with is flying me out and putting me up for 2 nights for their VIP event and then on for a factory tour.
Thankfully I doubt I will see you there "

Without wishing to do them a disservice, his promoters have had some fairly big fish to fry recently (i.e. WBSS), so that might explain why there hasn't been much noise around him since he pulled out of the Joshua fight. The thing is, I think he really needs to get back up into a mandatory position because I can't see any champion being particularly keen to give him a voluntary shot (high risk, low reward), and that really needs a promoter to be proactively pushing him, both in terms of getting him suitable 'eliminator' fights and being in the ear of the sanctioning bodies...

yeah fair points pal!....

looking at the rankings it's madness that he is ranked so low with most of them.....

It’s a tough one. His best bet to get back into a mandatory position looks to be with the IBF but as Joshua fulfilled the mandatory with them in the Takam fight, they won’t necessarily be pushing hard for him to make another mandatory any time soon.

The other option might be to go after Manuel Charr’s regular WBA title. It won’t necessarily fast-track him to a shot at the full title as the WBA have already announced Povetkin as mandatory, but it might help give him a bit more of a profile and maybe would put him in a decent position should Joshua and the WBA have a falling out at some stage around fulfilling obligations (who knows, maybe Joshua fighting Miller instead of Povetkin could be that trigger?!). Alternatively, it might be a way of securing a big fight with Tyson Fury...after a couple of tune-up fights, that belt could provide a way for Fury to get into the title mix, before looking to take on a Joshua or a Wilder in 2019...

Fair point; if I were in Pulev’s shoes, that’s where I’d want my promoters to be earning their corn then. Pulev is #4 with the WBA so it’s a sensible match-up to get sanctioned for the regular belt, and both fighters operate predominantly out of Germany where Sauerland is arguably the main promotional player. With the right support, it looks make-able...

Impressions I get from Bellew is that he knows his career is almost at an end, is happy with what he has achieved, and so, with only a few fights left, will look for whatever makes decent money without risk of big punishment.

I expect a fit Haye to walk the fight though, meaning Bellews easiest next option will be to drop down and use his position as ex-champion to get a title fight.

He didn't walk the first fight even prior to the injury though...

I hope bellew wins again. I find haye really unlikeable, still clinging on to anything to try to keep him in the celebrity limelight both in and out of boxing, be it one last fight or the awful shows he puts on Dave.

Free boxing is ace but it's always all about him. Looking forward to the rematch...
