I don't know too much about it really, but I help sponsor one of the guys out of Paddy Fitz's gym and as soon as he said he was on at the York Hall, I was all over it!!!

It's his third professional bout and he's 2 - 0 at the moment - got a car full going up and we're meeting a bus load of others up there to to cheer him on . . . I'll be ringside and hoarse by 10pm I reckon!! biggrin

Long shot I know, but you weren’t at the Groves-Cox fight at Wembley Arena, were you? I got chatting to a group of guys over from Swindon and one of them mentioned knowing someone being trained by Paddy Fitzpatrick (at least, I think that’s what he said...I believe he may have partaken of the ale beforehand! hehe )

woohoo Thurman has finally vacated his WBC belt. He will be automatic mandatory once back (and had warm up fights so year and a half minimum?). Nothing yet about his WBA though, hope he is pressured to do the same there.

Garcia-Porter have been ordered to fight for it.

Luis Ortiz vs. Dillian Whyte also ordered. Will be a good test for Whyte, he wants to play with the 'kings', so here is an exciting test. Winner will become mandatory for Wilder, can't imagine Wilder will look forward to an Ortiz rematch.

Seems Joshua has latched on to the sly use of the fight revenue figure and has come up with a proposal of his own. I mean, if it's a $100m dollar fight and team Wilder were already offering 60-40 in Joshua's favour anyway, then presumably they'd bite his hand off for him to take a mere $50m...

...or doesn't it work quite like that?! hehe

Of course it does hehe Wilder's side have apparently offered the requested $50m amount eek, Sent by email today, Eddie is in the US and they have a meeting tomorrow.

"An offer went out from Deontay and his entire team, to Hearn and Joshua. The fight would take place at the end of the year, no rematch clause... And we're taking all of the risk.... $50 million against 50%. If the fight does $40 million then he still gets $50 million. If it does $200 million he gets $100 million. It's $50 million guaranteed. Let's see who wants to make the fight. We're trying to make the biggest fight of this generation - that's what this is. We're not undervaluing his guy. We've made an incredibly aggressive and fair offer," DiBella told BoxingScene.com.
AJ should have left the interviews to Eddie!

It definitely is, but it includes Wilder's team having control over the venue. AJ also said £50 million, not $50 million (which falls short by about £15 million).

I can see the fight happening, but this is all a media stunt.

Ahhh good point!......id jumped right in there not looking at £££ or $$$.....
It would also be mental to not have it at Wembley.. .. there's no way that fight is doing 90000 anywhere in the states....

Nope, in the full IFL Interview Joshua specifically says dollars, that if it is a supposed 100 million dollars fight he would take 50.

Also of course it include venue and so on, it is a counteroffer to an offer that also included venue...

I think if the money is there, Eddie has made the mistake of believing his own hype.

UK is tiny compared to the USA, and being a major player here competing against mostly Warren when you were brought up in the family business isn't the same as people who made their own empires.

Wilde's team have been ridiculed, but when you read up on them, clearly they are major players.

Al is a major player in America as most people know, but the other two main guys behind Wilder are too.

DiBella bio https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_DiBella

Shelly Finkel is a hall of famer having been a boxing promoter for while

Did Eddie underestimate them? If the offer is serious than yes.

These people are not Joseph Parker's small time people on some small population New Zealand island.

Yep, well fair play to them if it is genuine. Point still holds though that if they’re actually going to pay AJ $50m (and presumably pay Deontay similar to get to the magical $100m) the fight is going to have to generate a significant amount more beyond that (unless everyone else involved from the PPV operators to the undercard fighters are offering their services for free).

If they’re able to generate revenues of that maginitude for a fight involving a Brit who only has a modest profile in the States at this point in time and an American whose biggest purse to date has been $2.5m (as the A-side fighter as well) then absolutely fair play to them!

However, I think Eddie Hearn has been pretty shrewd with his response, asking not only to see the actual contract (which apparently needs to be signed in 24 hours - why 24 hours?! - but hasn’t yet been sent) but proof of the funds too. If the fight can be sold to generate the revenue to support paying AJ a $50m purse then fantastic...but if that’s a guaranteed amount, they’ll be making damned sure that money is secure, irrespective of what the fight does because someone could end up getting their fingers burnt.

As ever, the devil is in the detail...

Is that your man from the weigh-in last week?!

Ref. Wilder offer. Control of venue and no rematch are going to be sticking points IMO.
