Pumps, dabs, daps, sneakers...

Anyway terrible news about Brendan Ingle, one of the most important and well loved trainer in British boxing over the last half century, possibly ever. As suggested above he created a place that was at the heart of a community. I'm sure he'll be sadly and widely missed.

Is that scouse for 'trainers'?

Literally never seen or heard that word before!
rofl

is that not a word for trainies everywhere?

trabs or wheels it seems to be up here!
No, down here we call them shoes, boots or trainers. I wore a pair of brogues to a wedding in Yorkshire and someone said 'nice wheels', and I remember thinking 'what?'.

You northerners are weird

I was just coming in to remind everyone to set their sky box!

Love jamie andd his work ethic but inoue is looking like ......well,quite aptly, a monster!....i see a stoppage loss for jamie im afraid
I agree with you. Inoue is looking special at the moment and I'm just not sure how McDonnell deals with him.
Stating the obvious, I'd say to have any chance, McDonnell has to make the most of his 5'' height and reach advantage and keep out of range for as much of the fight as possible.

He's also got to try and stop Inoue getting into any kind of rhythm and his best chance of doing that - in conjunction with using his physical advantages - is with his workrate (thankfully, McDonnell's fitness is renowned). Keep peppering him with shots, don't give him a moment's peace, but stay mobile; a static target is something Inoue tends to deal with quite effectively!

I'm not saying he'll win but I think McDonnell presents issues for Inoue that he hasn't had to deal with before so it will be interesting to see how he copes/adapts.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. I know what he should do, but I don't think he has the ability to do it.

You're spot on though, if he plays matador and fights the perfect fight at range then that would be how he wins. I don't think he can do it but you never know!
there's a piece in this weeks boxing news written by a guy who has been out sparring inoue...says his power is unreal but it does fade over rounds. advice to jamie is keep it long and stay out of his way until the later rounds
Inoue just knocked out McDonnell in under 2 minutes. eek

Yep, just seen it on sky (afternoon off work supposed to have been packing for weekend break) more of a stoppage than a ko but certainly not a bad stoppage... Inoue is a freak. Jamie looked gutted.

Just watched it - I'd watched a few of his other fights to get more info on him and he's very dangerous. So much power in that frame. Felt for McDonnell. He wasn't just caught with a great punch, or even out boxed (so to speak..), he was just steamrollered by pure weight of power.

Inoue seems very good at getting under the tall guys, getting hard body shots in then opening up the head and finishing with more bodyshots. Like a mini Tyson. Be interesting to see him fight someone his own stature.

Also doesn't help that his features give him an awesome poker face hehe

well, in a frantic attempt to redeem myself and steer my post back on track i feel it necessary to point out that brummell was best pals with king george 4th......who was the pre-eminent patron and backer of the best boxers in the land ....as far as i'm aware the only king to date who's coronation's security was provided by 18 past/present bare knuckle champions headed up by gentleman john jacksonlaugh

Pfft...can’t stand know-alls...!!!

Speaking of John Jackson, I see Jack Johnson has been posthumously pardoned by Trump for his conviction; Stallone closely involved in the lobbying and Wilder and Lennox Lewis in attendance at the announcement.

One minute a boxing forum, the next a discussion on trabs or wheels, never stops giving wink

RIP Brendan Ingle, great man and by all accounts made both a measurable impact both in the world of boxing and throughout his local community.

As for Inoue, geez that lad looks strong!

Shirtless russians have been attacking Liverpool fans in Kiev. This one had a pop at a lone fan and then another Liverpool fan in yellow shirt set him straight...

A straight right hand!! Boom!!

Entertaining performance from Yafai last night, demonstrating he can bang with a banger (with an unfair weight advantage too) if he needs to.

Hopefully a unification or a big fight with Chocolatito won’t be too far away now. I think a WBSS tournament at Super Flyweight would work brilliantly too but not sure whether they’d go for two adjacent divisions at the same time, with the Bantamweights already in place...

Credit to Kal Yafai for participating in a Mexican shoot-out with Carmona. He certainly didn't have to meet the mexican punch for punch but it made an entertaining fight.

Impressive when you consider Carmona went 12 rounds with the monster Inoue.

Wrong, the combatants were both locals.
The local bully was KO'd by a local scarf seller.
Deservedly so.

I'm amazed he only got $40k for that fight, a world champion. 12 week training camp, flights etc etc.
