Ah good stuff, I did the Aviemore parkrun on Saturday. It's a great route - bit of forest, then open moorland with a view of the hills, then back.
I'm staying just outside of Aviemore! Lovely here. Yesterday I did a run around Loch Garten/Mallachie. Today I'm going to Uath Lochans.

That was a good run today.
A few more details then … much elevation, where we’re you … it does look good.
Cornwall mullion to kynance and back.

Not that hilly just over 1000ft over 9 miles .

I live in the quantocks and have a loop a smidge under 10k that's 1000ft climbing , head over to exmoor and its even steeper

Absolutely recommend Cornwall though the scenery is brilliant when the weather plays ball.

Great! I stay in Boat when I'm up there. Take the steam train to Aviemore. The Uath Lochans are nice, some great viewpoints. Another walk/run route which is underrated and quiet with great views is the Duke of Gordon monument:

Come back and do the Loch Ness marathon in October!

I'll take a look at that. The other day I did Loch an Eilein and the surrounding area. It is great to be back after around 13 or 14 years! Run around Uath Lochans was good. Only did 5.2M (done a lot the last few days!) but had over 500ft of climbing which was nice. Lovely!

Feel like I should join you: Pico de la Zarza - highest point on Fuertaventura at ~800m

Shortly followed by a nasty cracking sound, some swearing and a long and painful walk...

This was not a good run day.
Ouch Smitters.

RICE, look up physio on YouTube as well. Once recovered you’ll spend lots of time doing one foot leg raises to strengthen your calves. But most importantly please go and get it Xray’d!! You could have possible (hairline) fracture(s) plus other nasty damage. If you don’t look after it properly you’ll keep reinjuring it…No need to ask me how I know! Also I found uneven ground when running was extremely hazardous, The only other thing I can recommend is an ankle brace. Search Amazon for “ASO ankle brace”, they are superb and worth the expense!

Good luck!

Can we also talk about shoes for a bit?

I’m 6ft, 98kgs and like to dominate stairs, even with my dodgy ankle (see post above). Running a bit slower, but longer these days, and training for a 15km event this year+ half marathon for next year. Ankle problems + brace means I need a stable shoe with lots of cushioning. Always had Asics, most recent was GT2000, which were good.

Any recommendations on shoes to look at based on the above?

Probably best to go to a running shop or 2 with lots of stock and gait analysis and see what feels best for you. I went off a recommendation for some trainers as they looked like they should be suitable and it was the middle of the first lockdown. I ended up getting knee pain!

Cheers. I have a Weber A fracture. It's at five weeks now, so things are looking good. Out of cast and slowly adding ROM. This would be ankle break number three...

I can't recommend walking 5 miles on a freshly broken ankle though. That was a little tender.

Great stuff! Hope the weather's been good. Another nice spot is Lochan Uaine (the green lochan) which really is spectacularly green, on a sunny day. I've always walked there but I imagine it would be a good/hilly run through Glenmore forest. Carry on to Ryvoan bothy.

Just about to go out for another run. I did Loch Uaine on Monday, yep.... Beautiful, we caught it between sunny spells.

That hasn't been the case for ages, the limit is way more than that. They just haven't updated the warning.

You clearly like a hill egor. Cornwall is great for it, view, mild weather and some terrain. I lot of runners I know stick to the routes on the Thames -not much climb there!!

First two images are of Loch Uaine

Ended up doing a longer run from Loch an Eilein to Loch Einich - have cycled it before but not since 2008. Beautiful place for a run!

I wouldn’t say I am a serious runner and o have let it slip lately but building back up. I do atleast 50 miles a month a few years ago I was doing 100 plus.

I am just trying to slow down, keep my heart rate down and run slower but increase volume. I have read this is a good idea to build a base. But how long should I do it for before I start to do intervals? I ran about 650 miles last year and 850 the year before. I want to get back to 100+ mile months.

Daft idea maybe but I am thinking “fk it” try and do my first Marathon (IOM) but it’s ok august. I may not have long enough to train.

Last day here today weeping

In October I'm heading to the North Pennines, specifically Nenthall - does anyone know of anywhere nice to run near there?

sorry can the pick the collective brain for a min. i came off a footpath while running on Monday momentarily and jerked the knee a little. it was sore after but i have full movement etc and its getting better it seems, ie stairs feel fine etc.

however, considering this was Monday, how long should i give it until i run again? what would the rule of thumb be? I was going to go for a run today but it still doesnt feel completely 100%
