Thanks lads, from what I have been told draining can work but there are risks and like you say the risk of repeat occurances is great so I might just leave them. One lad at our gym wears the ear cups, not spoken to him yet but I think I might just leave them if the only downside is cosmetic, the risk of infection etc.worries me. I started with a small 'balloon' last Tuesday morning that has got slowly worse since then, there us no real gap in the ear now and I can feel it 'touching' eachother, nothing else though.

Good luck with the rehab - the dedicaiton and self discipline needed to compete would indeed take over I imagine.
as far as I'm aware the only implications are cosmetic, I was really conscious of mine when they first went but now I actually quite like them, sort of a visual reminder of what i've dedicated a lot of my adult life to

They are like a trophy as such, shame I don't suffer with them.

Well after training again and rolling last night and my ear swelling up further over night, I've been to the doctors this morning and was sent to the ENT department at hospital where a very nice doctor drained 5ml of blood/gunk from it. He has wrapped it up trying to 'compress' it so as not to fill back up again, i have to go back on Thursday to see the results! Hurts like hell now mind after the needle.

Tony, buy some small magnets from amazon to keep it compressed. Also get some needles, it is possible to drain yourself with a bit of practice.

Thanks, the draining isn’t working too great so far but that’s because of the lack of pressure afterwards so the magnets could be a good idea. Went back Thursday and had 3ml drained this time and a big Mr Bump bandage round my head to compress it, seems ok up to yesterday but it hurts like hell after the needle so I’m considering just leaving them now and see what happens.

Our club's 10P instructor was awarded his Black Belt last night by Mr Bravo over in LA.

He also teaches the standup class and regularly kicks my ass all over. I'm unbelievably proud of him, so I thought I would share a photo on here.

Hard work and dedication pays off. Keep plugging away guys.

Brilliant, we've done a tiny bit of 10p stuff (electric chair springs to mind) and it's a long way from our 'normal' stuff.

Trained Thursday, at the moment Tuesday is still on.

Our instructor pulled out of a competition this weekend as have others apart from one girl who dominated her matches.

Kinda hoping training is off so can go get on the Whiskey and Guinness.

I've done nothing specific for bjj, been trying to do 150 eacg press ups, sit ups and squats per day but broken up into 5x sets of 30no. This has kept me just ticking over, I reckon fitness classes will be the first to be allowed back so thats a load of pain getting the cardio up only to find out a few weeks later when we're allowed to roll all those star jumps are of next to no use at all.

I've got plenty of instructionals if anybody wants any by the way. Happy to share.

"For the purposes of this guidance the definition of an ‘elite athlete’ means a person who is:

• an individual who derives a living from competing in a sport

• a senior representative nominated by a relevant sporting body

• a member of the senior training squad for a relevant sporting body, or

• aged 16 or above and on an elite development pathway"

That should be easy enough for you swing. Just wear a Cummings mask.

As a fully paid up member of the blue belt club, I'm basically elite.

Now...anyone fancy sponsoring me?

Anyone planning on getting back to the gym in some form this weekend?

I'll be gradually getting back to MMA & No-Gi as we figure it out, I think i'm going to pretty much knock BJJ on the head though, my time away from it has made me realise how little I enjoy it and I haven't missed it one bit, I'm sure I'll still do the occasional session but have no intention of doing it regularly again
