I’ve got no fingers left, absolutely nailbiting at the end.
I rarely get emotional about sport, but tonight feel a bit choked, absolutely incredible scenes.
Had a good chat with the old boy this evening who dragged me along to the county ground in the 90’s and who I still go to Sandy Park with a few times each season. Gutted though to have not been able to watch it with him either in person or on the box.
Unbelievable.

South West 2 - France 0

Well done both teams!

I just hope they sort the Premiership final out. It would be a farce if Bristol had to play instead of Wasps.

Well done, Exeter! I must admit to being nervous when they went down to 14 men with ten minutes left and a one-point lead, turning Racing over on their own line was gutsy, and they somehow sealed it.

Having the World's best ref was a bonus, Nigel was very calm at the end, making sure that the clock had been corrected and had, in fact, gone red when the ball passed the posts, so there would be no re-start. What a result for Rob Baxter, and many Exeter players who have been with the Club since their promotion to the Premiership.

As somebody has pointed out above, West Country 2, France 0.

Now all we have to look forward to is the Premiership Final, England vs the Baa-Baas, and the conclusion to the Six Nations, before the Autumn Internationals, and the start of the next Premiership season.

Eh? Come again??

To be fair (assuming this is the issue you were meaning,) I thought it was at worst clumsy in that Nigel said - “I don’t want a technical answer, time was either up or it wasn’t?”

It wasn’t on the TV clock only because it didn’t restart when Nigel asked it to. Time WAS up although the clock didn’t show it.

If the TV clock stops fro a fault, do they keep playing?? smile

Or am I barking up completely the wrong tree here ? frown

I have no idea either, I thought it was an excellent game (I would say that being an Exeter fan) that had me glued to the edge of the sofa.

Exeter get some unfair criticism as being a team who just pick and drive, but those phases of play were gripping, brutal and impressive as both teams battled in attack and defence. They also get very little credit for how effective the backs are. With Slade, Nowell, Hogg and young Simmonds in the backs along with Whitten/O'Flaherty/Devoto they can comfortably switch between the forwards attacking and passing out to the backs for some Hollywood tries.
Having watched them a lot over the years, there's just a ver

I am however, less confident about the Wasps match this weekend. I worry that Exeter will have a hangover and be punished by Wasps if they defend like they did against Racing.

Congrats on the champions cup. Was a fantastic (if a bit scrappy affair) but very enjoyable.

Looks like Wasps might be out and Bristol back in. Will be good for you if that is the case. But I have to say that if Bristol to the dirty on you and win it will make a total joke of this season. I'm looking forward to the final - but can't wait for this season to be over. With Sarries, then Covid - it's just too mad for even me to think of it as a normal season.

Barbarians game maybe off as some of them left the hotel last night.

Idiots. Name and shame, no excuse.

They were named by a BBC journalist earlier. Robshaw among them.

Shame really, but Barbarians matches are typically 60-70min of stodge in front of a half-empty stadium these days anyway.

If this was the Rec, they’d be splashing thru puddles 6 inches deep by now.

Twickenham pitch is holding up really really well.

As a bloke who traditionally attends the Ba Ba autumn match with friends and family - the stadium is usually rocking, the prices are a third or a quarter the price of the England games. And the games are invariably a lot lot better!

Anyway, who cares?

Smashing the Corona here in my Exeter shirt.
Never in a million years did I think I’d see the club do this, from those dark wet muddy winter evenings at the County Ground to Champions of Europe and England.
Geddon bauys!

I’m expecting to see some seriously hungover players having breakfast at Greendale tomorrow. hehe

Well deserved, Exeter are a formidable force and have more than earned it this year. Interesting that without the points deduction Saracens would have finished 4th, I think realistically they would have upped thier game but still think Exeter would have done it as they have demonstrated time and time again they are a formidable side.

Congratulations from a Bears fan

Well done, Exeter! Double Champions is an incredible achievement, thoroughly well deserved.

They would've actually finished fifth, wouldn't they? Unless my maths fails me, they would've been level with Bath on points, but with one fewer wins, no?

What'll be really interesting to see is what happens if there is either no 2020/21 Championship, or one curtailed enough that there's no promotion/relegation. I could see Sarries weathering one season without losing their England stars, but not two, especially if most of them don't actually get much game time this year!

I'd say it was a very different atmosphere to an international, and probably better to take kids along to. The stadiums are rarely full, and the Mexican waves have usually started after about 25-30min.

Also, while the odd moments are hugely entertaining, the lack of intensity really kills the enjoyment of the games for me.

I love the Barbarians, but they are being left behind by the modern game. Wins are a rare thing these days, because International teams know how to defend against 'chuck it about' rugby.

Last year they played and lost three games. The year before, played two lost one. The year before that they won two games against teams of Wallaby antiques and green Englishmen.

I love the romance of the Baabaas, but the reality is often a very different story.
