It's a run out for those who haven't played or need match fitness. I personally wouldn't have these as capped matches but I'm glad we're tiying Carre to us.

Not from within the camp. Ireland are the ones they want the most. Mine too as it happens.
Maybe the hatred within the camp for England is greater than you think wink.

All these games don't really mean much at all - seems to be a way of getting some beer money for the tour wink

In some ways no games would be the best approach. No strategy given away no physicality no chance of in game injuries.

Then again May to end of Sept without any games or no top test level games might put you at a disadvantage.

Oh I think the games need to happen - just not sure what can be deduced from them.

Basically just a really good training game.

I also don't think they should be used in world ranking calculations - gives some countries an over inflated view of where they are wink.

6Nations and he Championship should have full rankings
Autumn internationals 50%
May games 50%
Summer tours 100%
Pre RWC 5%

Ha, I think it's about where players are on their conditioning programmes. These games are meaningless really and Gatland doesn't mind throwing them, who ever we're playing.

If this was a competitive game they'd be fired up.

Ireland should win this one fairly handily.

I have to wonder whether that's actually a disadvantage for the Welsh overall?

It's all well and good playing your home games all cuddled up under the roof, but it's hardly likely to increase their chances of winning on a wet afternoon on Christchurch, is it?

I wasn't thinking about this World Cup. More about beating New Zealand on their own turf at some point.

Tend to agree - the roof's there to deal with abysmal conditions and allow the game to continue.

For some reason (widely quoted as "atmosphere"), the Welsh seem to want to play an outside game inside all the time.

Granted, club games get played outside, so players should be used to it (nasty, cold, wet weather).

We - The English - invented Rugby as a game to be played outside, in the open air.

Anything else is an aberration.

No, you started cheating at football. It just happened to take place outside.

wink

That's as maybe.

It certainly wasn't intended to be played indoors!

Otherwise, we might as well put some posts up in your drawing room.

I thought rugby actually predated football.
Which means football was invented for people who didn’t like getting their hands dirty.
