I'd be interested in an analysis of how La Rochelle snuffed out Leinster's threat and countered with their own. Leinster even had a crucial period of the game with a man advantage and couldn't seem to take hold of it. Even if they won by the skin of their teeth, La Rochelle seemed to deserve it
According to a mate who knows these things LR’s forwards snuffed out Leinster. They dominated them at the set pieces. They certainly had the beating of Leinster in the scrum, but Leinster's attacking game was nullified as well, probably as you say by not letting them have time. It seems the result of very good analysis and coaching. I would imagine Jones was taking notes, as Leinster is basically the Ireland side
Having spent my rugby days playing at 9 or 10, it is hard to describe how mych more pressure a 9 is under when your scrum is being dominated, even slightly.
Everything seems to have less time which leads to less accuracy/consistency. This is obviously then transferred to the 10 who is receiving poorer passes, with less time to play. It's only fractions of a second but it makes a huge difference.

Ronan O'Gara the next England coach? Steve Borthwick couldn't beat Leinster earlier in the competition. It's great that Ireland got beaten by a "club" team..... but on the serious side of this the defence by L Roch was outstanding, and like already stated if the 9 and 10 have less time, and the forwards all willing to chase everything putting a team under pressure that lets face it have not been used to that kind of pressure, then things start to go wrong.
If the French had more discipline then the score line may have had a better gap.
This does not bode well for Ireland in NZ this summer. The AB's will take heart from this, learn from it, and I suspect now a 2 to 1 win for the AB's, with the 3rd test hammering Ireland

I’m not sure you know much about Ronan O Gara.
Maybe read what he himself says:https://www.rugbypass.com/news/ronan-ogara-revisit...

It's going to be a slightly nervous 40 minutes...
With Glaws 21-0 up against the Sarries Academy and Tigers 7-0 up against Wasps at half time, I've just snaffled what seem to be the last two tickets for Quins' away semi at the Stone-X next week.
Here's hoping Glaws don't give up another 21 point half time lead!

Nope! Absolutely demolished Sarries. Why, oh why could we not have done that in 2 other games this year and not given up large leads? Still promising for next year and some stunning team tries today. With Glaws 21-0 up against the Sarries Academy and Tigers 7-0 up against Wasps at half time, I've just snaffled what seem to be the last two tickets for Quins' away semi at the Stone-X next week.

A cold bacon sandwich is one of the saddest things known to humanity.
Other than that, I fully agree, although I was briefly intrigued until I realised you'd written owt, not owl!
A cold bacon and cream cheese bagel is a thing of the utmost beauty when queuing in the cold dawn waiting for the start of the London Ride100! Settles the nerves and gives enough pleasure for the first 20 miles Other than that, I fully agree, although I was briefly intrigued until I realised you'd written owt, not owl!

Great game at Sandy Park. We lost but fantastic entertainment. Who was Motm?
I’d have chosen Ewers. Immense performance.
I was there too, great game considering it was a dead rubber for Exeter. Ewers was excellent and Hogg dazzled too. Some terrible defending though from Chiefs!I’d have chosen Ewers. Immense performance.
Top trolling as usual from Joe Marler, a very unsubtle dig to the head on the Chiefs scrum half got the East terrace upset 2 minutes into the game in pantomime fashion.
Then at the end of the game on the lap of honour he was offering various supporters a fight in a court jester fashion.
