what a match!!! If you wanted to be a little pedantic you could argue that Barret cost the match....

Great match to watch as a neutral. I must admit I was rooting for the Saffers at the end.

Good result, no one team should dominate the game too frequently or for too long. Now all SA need to do is make sure that's the quality of team that waddles on every time they play an international.

I think the All Blacks have looked a little more vulnerable in a few of the games I've seen. Possibly some mileage to exploit?

Unless he's injured, that is just EJ/RFU cutting off their nose to spite their face

I thought Jones said it was sorted and he was still in contention for selection? Ashton's in, despite being on a ban after his red card for throwing a punch.

We've appeared pretty st at managing this type of player for a long time now, hopefully there's some other explanation.

The BBC said:
Jones said last month the matter had been dealt with and Cipriani would be "judged on his rugby". The Australian reaffirmed that point following the announcement, saying Cipriani's omission is "100%" on rugby grounds.

"We have decided just to have two stand-offs in this particular camp as we want them to get a lot of training time. He knows what he has to work on," he said.

TBH I'm totally baffled - apparently his attitude and work ethic in SA was beyond reproach and his 3rd test appearance looked great (GF on the other hand, did not).

He's had 2 MotM awards in 3 matches and now is suddenly only 3rd or 4th choice? I call bs on that

Likewise. No idea what Cipriani is supposed to do about his work rate & defence when he's in danger of cleaning up on MOM awards this season. Same goes for Mike Brown IMO (& I say that as a Quins supporter - his lack of self control seems to be creeping back as his pace declines). Is he being picked as FB ahead of Goode, or shunted off to the wing, ahead of Wade? Bonkers, either way. Genuinely starting to worry about the world cup after breathing a huge sigh of relief over Jones' first year in charge. An interesting autumn awaits!

In an interview yesterday, EJ strongly hinted, wrongly or rightly, that Cipriani doesn't do enough off the ball.

I don't think Jones needs to give a good reason. He's not picked him, and my interpretation is that he had a quiet word in his ear a while back and said "keep your nose clean and you're in". And Cipriani didn't stick to his side of the bargain.

Anyway, I'm much more pleased to see Tuilagi back in the squad. Yes hes a big, unsophisticated lump, but he certainly gives the opposition something to think about and nobody wants to line up opposite him. I hope he can stay fit for the next year.

It is interesting. Ash and Hartley have numerous on-field infractions, Mr Angry's normally a half step (or a ref's bad day away from being pinged - ditto Fazlet: which segues nicely into a rumour that a major reason for Cip's banishment is the petulant one doesn't like him.....
