If anybody from the PAC watches that the angler will get death threats for poor fish handling ....

In other news the Anglers Mail is stopping publication this month . I've read it for years , as I like to know what 's being caught and to learn about new stuff in the coarse fishing world . Most of the decent magazines like Angling closed many years ago so now it's the choice of glossy carp porn mags(yawn ) or the product placing, awfully written Angling Times for my news.

Nigel - I was introducing a friends to the delights of light lures on my local pit yesterday -another convert. Sport slow, I managed to lose a low double pike which took the lure twice and still fell off , the bugger.

I think I must have single handed converted about 5 people to start fishing again, and mostly for lure fishing fun too, which all started with your recommendation John!

I must post my pictures of my little session down at Tewksbury on the Severn again last Week.

Sorry wasn’t condoning the man and his actions, what made me smile was the fact he thought it was acceptable to go fishing whilst waiting for his bride to be!

My late Great Uncle Fred was a proper angler. He told his best man to tell Fred's soon to be weeping bride to be that he'd had second thoughts and was off salmon fishing in Scotland . This was on the MORNING of the day the said nuptials were to take place . True story . Respect.

What else is there to do? Can't see the bride and all that.

My wife asked me what I wanted to do for my 40th, it being a special birthday and all that.

We went fishing in Cuba.

Watched episode 1 and 2 last night, really enjoyed both of them.

And yes once again lots of lovely Aerial filming too, we think it was created by another pilot and cameraman we know Luke Pavey.

And who else thought the Ghillie Lynn was just one of the funniest and wisest old sorts you could ever imagine.

He came out with gems like you’ve just made you first mistake calling me an expert!

And the fact he says I can go fishing for a day and catch nothing, but still know I’ve had a good day, because of all the beautiful nature around me, some people would go home miserable if they caught nothing, I never go home miserable!

What a wise Man.

Thanks again for the recommendation, loved watching it!

We had a board meeting of our club on zoom last night ; I was fascinated to hear from our hon sec that our river was in the running for the next series of Bob and Paul's TV series , for a grayling episode . John Bailey had found us on our website and apparently loved the river when he visited - but sadly, it is going to be filmed further north . See what they are missing on Ryedaleanglers.org

That’s a shame John, but still you don’t want those pesky film crews stamping all over you nice fishing locations right? wink

By the greys news for al of us is that they have obviously green lighted the new series and if they are scouting locations it’s probably well underway.

I’ve been out and about recently, just scouting new spots myself to fish.

I was doing a risk assessment over in Evesham this week, so pulled my BAA members guide book out, and low and behold there was a site just down the road at Wick on the Avon.

I just took a few snaps with my iPhone as it was raining heavily, but this spot wit the weirs looks very to me!

That’s funny the word it’s blocked due to profanity is Pike (y), presuming it’s because it’s a derogatory term for traveller types?

Here’s the news so far about the new series from the Radio Times.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.radiotimes.com/...

Which is also funny in itself, as I didn’t know the Radio Times was still a thing any more.

My parents would always buy the radio times, and I loved the Christmas version for the holiday period, as it was always huge as it covered a much longer period of programmes over several weeks.

Those were simpler times back then Weren’t they, I have to say it was easier and more enjoyable to plan a session of viewing on the TV back then!

We are doing a large job in Evesham for the next two weeks.

So I have been there today to complete a set of Pre Assessments.

Again what’s amazing is what lies beneath when looking for venues to fish.

Here’s the first.

A frankly ugly and unimposing steel gate under the railways Arches in the centre of a modern housing Estate in the centre of town.

And so once through that gate?

A short walk down to the River Avon past a lot of ugly site works reveals this.

Despite the odd dog walker, the place is devoid of all people, and yet it’s a few hundred yards from the centre of Evesham.
