We need a new quad bike for the farm at home, just general running about, towing small trailer etc etc

Been looking at Honda's 250's, 350's,420's and 500's any one got any advice ? Will be looking for a second hand one

We've a Suzuki Eiger thing, been faultless for what we need it for (general sheep duties) pulls a trailer around all day, cvt and electric start make for an easy life. Doesn't seem to be as unstable as some.

I bought a 2 year old Honda Fourtrax 420 in 2014. It is a manual gearbox version and has plenty of grunt to pull a fully loaded ballast roller and other general field duties. I've never managed to get it stuck either as it travels very well over wet ground. Never needed to do any maintenance to it other than an oil change and adjustment of the rear brake.

Yamaha 700 grizzly here, bought new in 2009, incredibly powerfull, 2 gears low & high, electric selector for 4wd + elec diff lok, power steering, 600kg weight comes in handy for towing, it gets used all the time, does everything with ease and has never broken, sensitive to oe plugs though.

Really depends what your using it for. On our cattle farm we have a 350 4WD Yamaha automatic and it does everything we throw at it exceptionally well on a daily basis. Never got stuck and goes like stink when you want it to. The good thing about it being a 350 as opposed to some of these monster farm quads you now get is that you significantly reduce the risk of being killed/injured should the thing tip with you on it. Heavier and wider quads are often more stable (or at least they feel it) but I wouldnt want to tip one. Depends how you are going to ride it!

How much if any road use? I've rather liked the idea of the Argocats, either 6x6 or 8x8. Maybe not quite as speedy as a quad, but arguably more versatile if it's not really going on the road.

That said, we use neither and tend to stick to Land Rovers or tractors. But we are arable these days.

I've got a Polaris 425 which has been great.

Now surplus to requirements following a move away from 10 acres of grazing/wood to 2 acres of garden, so if you're in the market and local (Norfolk/Suffolk) give me a shout.

Pretty versatile.

They are but nothing like as agile and the diesel is very slow, don't have much for ground clearance either. They're about 15 grand new too. The one I use occasionally has Greenstar on it.
