I think it would be around the 6min 25sec mark.

PB is 39:41, but that was 5 years ago now.

Probably have a sub 41 in me just now (did 41.20 on a fast course in November)

1st 10k of the year 2 weeks on Sunday - aiming for a 40 at some point this year.

No idea why though - 10k is the most un fun distance ever.

Good Luck!

I agree its a great distance. Long enough to get zoned in, and short enough to put some effort in. Unlike marathons were you can never feel the end coming. PB: 40:50 last year and then (stupidly) switched focus to marathon training. Now i am just getting back to Sub7 minute miles.

Hopefully first official 10k on Monday but looking around the 50min mark. 40min would be a good target to aim for.

Is that Shinfield 10k? I did it a few years ago and it was well organised

Didn't make it this morning. Ended up looking after my niece and couldn't make the run. Shame as a friend did it and really enjoyed it.

Bracknell Half this weekend instead.

42:30 on Thu. Replaced my training run with a blast around London. HR average was 163 with a max of 169, so need to work on getting HR higher.

Work to be done!

I'll bet you breaking 40 minutes is as much in the mind as in physical training. It is a big psychological barrier an once you get through it the shackles will be off. Practise running 1km reps at sub 40 pace so you know what it feels like then stitch them all together and get your PB. Or something like that.

5k/20:49

Had a long week of training including a 90m bike ride so not unhappy with that, would have liked to be Sub20, but the last mile was 6:55. Splits (6:26, 6:45, 6:55).

It seems i have no stamina which is different to endurance (i thought it was always the same thing!). Want to try and get miles to 6:15 and then build the stamina from there. This is not easy! Absolutely spent now.

Finally did a 10k on Sunday and managed a 47.57 which I was happy with.

Targeting a sub 45min by the end of the summer.

38.45 in 2014 & 2015
A bad marathon in late 2015 knocked all of my times for some reason
Did 41 mins a month or so ago, got to crack 40 again this year
Aged 55 now, should be easier with all that practice !

38.46 December 2015 and that's the last time I ran 10k as I've had non stop patellar tendonitis since.

Would be interested to see what basic training plans people are using to target sub 40 min 10K.
I ran my first 10K last month in 59:17, was happy to get under 1 hour even though I was overtaken on the finish straight by someone dressed in a Bull costume.
Want to start following some kind of program rather than just aimlessy going out for a run every other night.
