Not Stoneman and Westley I'm guessing. Does Cook deliberately sabotage all his fellow openers or something....

How exactly do you suggest Stoneman plays that delivery?

How is everyone finding the pink ball?

Personally - I can't see it that well on telly, it's not as clear as either the red or white ball. Maybe it will be better for the hour we'll have under lights!!

Also, after the first 10-15 overs it's dead!
Nothing to show it's going to offer any swing or anything for the bowler.

I have a feeling this will be a long innings for England unless the period under lights produces something different

Great to see Cook back in the century game.

Captain and ex-captain hitting centuries in the same day and at the crease together must be a pretty rare occurrence smile

I suspect we'll see it again against this Windies attack

347-3. Very satisfactory. Stoneman got a very good ball, Westley planted his front foot as the ball left the bowler's hand.

I'll repeat, nothing can go wrong from here, except. ...I'd really like the WIndies to be better. Perhaps not as good as when Richards and Grenwich were batting, with their great quicks bowling, but at least good enough to not be certain what the outcome will be unless it pours with rain.

I'm not sure such a thing will happen this test. Though a potent WI side would be a good thing for Test Cricket I feel.

WI aren't looking great.

Stoneman out to a decent ball...if he gets a second innings we'll see what happens.

I think we will do this by an innings. Stoneman got an excellent ball. Westley less so. This series will tell us nothing other than any batsmen who cannot make runs against the WI has no place in test cricket. My dog could score a ton against this attack.

I feel embarrassed for the Windies supporters, players looking like they're not even trying!

Aggers sumed it up best on TMS, in reference to the decline of Windies cricket 'back in the day you could shake a coconut tree and two fast bowlers would fall out'

just a variant on the English version of "want a fast bowler just shout down a mine shaft "
which explains the lack of out and out pace in the England attack for a few years now ...( and the slow wickets these days are not an encouragement .)

Now we'll see if the WIndies can bat better than they can bowl.

Wi' a stick a roobarrrb.

Let's see anyway, after they bat. Could be the pink ball is a dud. Fantastic innings from Chef, inspirational.

I know England are on top- so far, but against a B side 40 odd runs between our 5 other batsmen Malan excepted, is not encouraging. Lets hope they improve before the Ashes.

The bit on TMS during the lunch, err tea, err long interval where Aggers, Simon Hughes, Alison Mitchell and Dilip Jajodia from Dukes discussed cricket balls especially in connection with the pink ball was fascinating.

Incidentally I find the pink difficult to track, lose sight about half way from bowler's hand to bat.

same here watching on tv the pink ball is hard to see from bowlers hand until it is already rolling towards the boundary. there were a few times yesterday on TMS where they said they lost the ball too. i think the issue is that pink just doesn’t have enough contrast against a mainly mid tone pitch. they need to come up with a better solution.

having said that i’m not convinced about the whole day night thing at all. the stands were half empty in the last session, and it screws the non-sky tv viewing because the c5 highlights aren’t on until midnight. if they wee allowed to show them straight after at 10 or something it would be better.

Looks like Mr Anderson got out of bed on the right side this morning.
