Looks like Mr Anderson got out of bed on the right side this morning.
Indeed, good start to the day.ETA, better, four down.
So the WIndies aren't going to make the follow on. Open with Stonemand and Westley, with Malan coming in at three to get a better idea of how they can bat.
Not seen forecast but think enforcing the follow in is a mistake. We can bowl this lot out again and not have to bat again. We know the strength of the bowling squad, but we need to have another look at the top of the batting. Let them have another knock for a while, give the bowlers a rest, there would be still two days to knock them over.
Test cricket really needs a 2 division system now.
Something like:
Division 1 - England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Pakistan.
Division 2 - WIs, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Afghanistan.
Otherwise these tests vs the likes of the WIs are just helping to kill the sport.
Can't even remember the last time the WIs won a single test match in England - it wouldn't surprise me if we had to go back to the 1990s for that one. Every time they've come over here in recent years they've been dire.

Fantastic stuff from Broad. From two wickets in two balls to taking the wicket that puts him above Sir Beefy in the England all-time wicket takers list. The 8 - 15 at Trent Bridge in 2015 helped a bit, obviously!
On the down side, this really hasn't been much of a contest, and it's not helping England sort out the top order before an Ashes series. We can't do anything about that now. It's a shame, though, to see the once formidable West Indies reduced to this.

England get criticised when they don't enforce the follow on and criticised when they do. They can't win.
Yes I agree some batting practice may have been good, but practice against village cricket class bowling isn't going to tell us anything. This was a pointless exercise. Our top order if they stay as they are will get mullered by the Aussies, cook and root excepted.

It's sad to see WIndies reduced to this state of affairs. I'm old enough to have seen Brian Close face up to Charlie Griffith and Wes Hall in 1963, and again in 1976 to Michael Holding, Andy Roberts and Wayne Daniel, all seriously quick and dangerous bowlers. I don't just mean dangerous to your wicket, but dangerous to your life, no helmets, no chest or forearm guards, just a bat and gloves. Ok one could argue Close was brave to the point of being stupid, he walked down the wicket to Hall, let the ball hit him, that way he couldn't be out leg before, but at the expense of being bruised black and blue. Those guys were seriously rapid bowlers, very happy to dish out a lot of chin music.

I am more of an Ambrose and Walsh generation, but WI also always had some fantastic bats, Lara for a kick off. WI have better players than this, but they won't settle the contracts in respect of Test vs T20 world tours. That's the issue, and I don't see it being resolved soon.
Think the ICC need to help the Countries and make a rule on participation, What would an England team look like with no Bairstow, Stokes and Root.
