mad Can't the blooming police and CPS pull their finger out on this on Stokes? If he's found guilty of something, fair enough. If not, get him out there. Either way let's get it sorted.

Still a highly unlikely win for us, but probably the best chance we could have hoped for.

At least we are showing a bit of fight & spirit.

No chance we'll win.
Best Aussie side I can remember.
We'll be lucky to make 150.

Aussie sledging allegedly crosses “the line”. Does anyone know what’s been/being said?

Are you ten years old? Really?

This is a pale imitation of some of the great Australian sides, with arguably only one world-class player. The side which we beat in the 2005 Ashes series was packed with legends. Earlier sides had the menace of the likes of Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson.

Do your homework.

I suspect the original post here was trying to avoid jinxing it.

What on Earth is going on in Cook's head?

Give ourselves a half chance at recovering and then that. Still, he could have been out earlier.

I can see us being on our knees again at the close of play.

As a fairly one eyed Aussie I agree, I haven't seen any play today but he was spectacular in last night's evening session, Broad was pretty useful too.

Credit where it's due ( keep yourself together unrep I'm still baracking for the one true team )

Great comeback from Eng.

Making a match of this and showing a bit of grit.

Much better to see games where both teams have a chance of winning.

I’m not sure England have a chance of winning, a draw is a tiny possibility perhaps.

Looking like not putting England in again last night was a mistake by Smith, as was using up all the appeals.

Now under 200 required – dare to dream? Wonder what odds you could have got on an England win yesterday.

Don't you just love Test Match Special? The banter, all with a background from the Barmies in full voice, a discussion about the merits of anaemic scrawny Australian pigeons versus proper English pigeons morphs into one about four day tests.

Daggers, anyone still for four day tests?
Tuffers, could still be a four day test.
Daggers, hmm England might struggle to knock these remaining runs off in 15 overs.

Love it.

My wife was working from home yesterday when it was on. With this evening test, I’ve even been inflicting it on my kids during the school run.

My wife had enough yesterday, “What are they banging on about? Someone stuck in a lift, the taxi driver not knowing the way from the Hilton to the ground, names for the time between dusk and sunset”. hehe

I actually prefer it to watching it on the telly sometimes. It’s iconic and a fantasticly great British tradition.

Brilliant stuff. hehe

As exciting and whizzbang as t20 cricket is, the last couple of hours of this match has been utterly captivating and far more thrilling than seeing Gayle hit someone for 30 off an over. Both sides still have a chance of winning, albeit England's is smaller; the Aussies looked a bit rattled when Malan and Root were together; the Barmy Army were in all its glory with the review gestures mocking Steve Smith and it's been superb, wonderful theatre.

Shame Malan went at the end then as it might have sent a message to the Aussies that we have got some grit and guts in us. We still have, of course, but to knock these runs off now would be one of the greatest achievements in modern Ashes history.
