here's the box, and here's all that was in it... its smaller than an oyster card/credit card!!!
That's really quite extreme. Someone must have done that for a bet surely.
I had exactly the same with a camera battery a few weeks ago.

It's not the first time, either.
It is rather riduculous!

Recently I’ve purchased a big brake kit for my mini (bmw not a real one) I wanted one that would fit under my 16in (irony) winter wheels but any way most kits are sold in the USA which is fair enough but why oh why do they use inches for sizing anything smaller that a meter??????
It’s not like it’s something big I’m trying to size up. This wilwood caliper is 3 &1/4 inches wide wtf?!? It makes no actual sense, it’s seems like it’s purely guess work when you get the tape measure out do they build buildings with this vage measuring system???
Oh I had to use a imperial to metric conversion tool to see what they were on about
I'm not questioning your right to be annoyed beyond reason, but surely I'm missing something here.

3 1/4" is exactly 3 1/4". It's not vague in the slightest and makes perfect sense.

Indeed. Perhaps they don't understand fractions and don't realise that 3 & 1/4 is 3.25 silly

Probably best not to mention the "thou" as a division of an inch. biggrin

Threads that are so long that no one will ever be able to read them.

And other people, obviously.

This certainly doesn’t annoy me beyond reason, but very mildly peeves me, and makes me wonder why people do it so often.
Use of the indefinite article “an” before a consonant, e.g., he was in an car, as opposed to in a car, of course it may certainly be a rushed typo, but I keep seeing it in posts on various forums,
as in, “he ate an carrot, while I ate a bean.”

Similarly, when people choose it based on the phonetic sound rather than the text. The prime example being people referring to "an F1 car".

My new Olive Oil bottle just spun it's cap. So I couldn't open it and, even if I do get the tool kit out and open it, it then won't close properly. Every time. For a year or more.

Curse you, Filippo Berio!

The example you cite is the correct use of "an". Abbreviations and acronyms that are pronounced phonetically use the "a/an" rule according to their sound.

I have never understood 'an hotel' though.

Yes, the 'H' is silent. Why I don't know. Maybe trips off the tongue nicely.

A hotel is where you book to stay for at least one night.

A "no-tell" you only book by the hour.

HTH wink

Using "an" for a word that starts with an 'h' is actually grammatically correct in some circumstances, usually when the 'h' is followed by a vowel and the 'h' is silent. Hotel is something of an anomaly, though. teacher

Edit: I guess that explains "an F1 car" too - the word has an initial spoken vowel sound if you pronounce it "eff-wun". Obviously you wouldn't say "an Formula One car"

My Vito. Had a nice helpful "driving bulb fail" on the dashboard, no problemo, bought said bulb and just tried changing it. Not a chance. I can just about squeeze my hand in to the back of the headlight, no movement at all possible to undo the cap. This is bonkers. Maybe if i remove washer reservoir i can get to it, no i would need to remove expansion tank aswell. Must be an easier way, look on youtube , need to take grill out , drop bumper , undo the headlight and remove. FFS. Should have took Halfords offer to change it for £8 or whatever it was.

Any my boys, both home for the weekend, both in their twenties, both with good full time jobs, both cannot for love nor money load the fking dishwasher correctly

The dishwasher issue is directly the fault of the parents.

Not an Audi is it by any chance?? I had a series of headlight bulb failures on my S6 and Halfords wouldn’t fit them under their £8 scheme as it would take them a couple of hrs labour to strip the front and reassemble ... I tried 4 Halfords in the NE and then 2 in West Yorks and they all said the same thing lol

My fiancée when we are shopping. If we need to purchase tea towels she will look at every single fking tea towel on display, pick up a few of them and carefully inspect each one and spend 3/4 minutes deciding which ones best. She will do this with many items when we are shopping and it drives me insane. The weekly food shop can be done by me in about 20 minutes, if she comes along it’s usually about an hour. Maddening!

She probably says the same about you when you pop into the DIY store or Motor Factors and spend ages deliberating over a scewdriver. biggrin
