The Supreme is a proper tough call, I've been veering toward getabird or even first flow if its gets any stickier underfoot...
Any reason for your choice?
Nothing super special or shrewd to be honest. Have been impressed (and have backed) on occasions and I don't think the ground will be much of an issue so I am happy to stick my money in again.

It's a risk free bet with SkyBet so perhaps I have not done as much research as I should have.

My thoughts on Day 1 if anyone is interested...

Tuesday

1.30 Kalashnikov

Favourite is too short and is no Vautour or Douvan. My pick brings solid graded form to the table, he is battle hardened for his age/runs and won’t mind the fast and furious big field. 3 out of last 4 winners were top rated like this lad. Doesn’t want heavy but handles plenty of cut which is likely on first day.

2.10 Footpad

Nothing much to say. Jumps like QMCC contender. Ruby will set out and jump them into the ground. Only danger is Petit Mouchair who has a bit to find and no reason to do it. Footpad is a better jumper and will nick lengths at every fence.

2.50 Vicente

Looking for a bit of value and this horse fits the bill. Last 6 winners of this race have worn headgear, this lad wears a hood. He’s an out and out stayer (Won at 4m) and his best runs have been at over 3m. If he stays out of trouble his stamina should put him there at the business end.

3.30 Buveur D’Air

Only horse to beat him over hurdles and fences is Altior which says it all. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves. I wound be disappointed if he lost this.

4.10 Apples Jade

Top rated and top of betting have both have very good records. Apples Jade fits both those stats. Normal winners of this race on average are rated 9lb less then her. Head and shoulders the best horse in the race and shouldn’t have any issue dispatching her rivals.

4.50 Duel at Dawn

Bit of an outside punt this one but the horse has been targeted at this race and wants soft/heavy going. Good form against a good yardsticks last two runs and has run well at the course.

5.30 Testify

3 from 3 chasing including a grade 2 meaning this is a drop in class to listed level. Will love the soft going. Could be a bit of class in the field.

I think it’s one for the bookies this year.

The festival will be run on heavy ground for the first time in many years, so the form of horses who have made their reputations running on top of perfect good-to-soft ground will be of limited value in the mud bath. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see late withdrawals of big name horses if owners and trainers don’t like the look of the ground.

This stable have had two easy winners elsewhere today which makes this horse a good E/W bet in an Amateur Riders' Novices' Chase

Samco in the Ballymore (1330)
Monalee and Elegant Escape in the RSA (loves heavy going and finished very quickly behind Samcro in a P2P https://twitter.com/kris1179/status/93488035852448... (1410)
William Henry for the Coral Cup. I am happy to follow any of the Bowen jockeys whatever they ride, think they're bloody superb. (1450)
Altior in the Queen Mother. Would be happy if Douvan pissed it on the bridle but I just can't see it! (1530).
Cause of Causes in the XC but think Cantlow deserves a look in e/w (1610)

So close yesterday to a big day, backed Kalashnikov to the high heavens but done by a neck. Also backed Melon w/o BVD and Mick Jazz e/w @ 40/1. So all in all roughly break even.

Today for those who care
1:30 Samcro
Don't back odds on horses generally however this is a machine and cannot see past it. Elliot didn't have a winner yet but this should change that.

2:10 Monalee
Jumps very well and think it has the stamina can go the extra distance.

3;30 Altior / Min w/o Altior
Again won't be backing it but the drift in value after the foot problems at the weekend has given something. Steering job. The only doubt is Monday's palaver. Can't see Douvan doing anything after 12 month off, and Min is best of the rest imo.

4:10 Tiger Roll
I think Cause of Causes is only fav due to last years performance. Think Tiger Roll is the better horse.

Started well yesterday with Summerville Boy in the Opener and Footpad in the 2nd which paid for my days bets after no other winners, so ended up even money overall. Had Melon in the 3:30 but Buveur just edged him in what was a great race. Looking forward to today.

I'm interested in AWF94's recommendations for today, seeing how he got on yesterday!

laugh Yeah it was a pretty good day yesterday! Although imo it was the easiest out of the 4 days, unlucky with Monalee but Presenting Percy was too good!!

Today I think is the most difficult of the 4 days and so will be small bets from me as I'll bet there tomorrow!! But I've gone for the following, again for anyone who gives a scensoredt :

1:30 Terrefort
Plenty of money for this in the last 4 or 5 hour, Elliot did well yesterday and his only option for this Shattered Love is the danger I think.

2:50 Un De Sceaux
Too short for me but think its a banker, Cue Card is past it and Frodon doesn't mind it heavy so would have gone for that ew but not worth it with only 6 runners

3:30 Supasundae ew
Wide open this one so plenty of value, anything could win it but I've gone for this ew as I think its best value and should place.

4:50 Laurina
Won't be backing it but a steering job imo.

5:30 Sqauteur
Had the op and think it could bounce back after last years mis hap.

Famous last words here but don't mind putting my balls on the line!

Thanks.

I'm not a betting guy but backed the three that weren't too short, including an each way treble.

£16 bet, potential win £500

I had a good day yesterday with the William Henry and Elegant Escape place double being 8/1. I had Samcro and Altior in a double too, but that's it.

Today has been OK so far. I had Finians Oscar in the JLT which was no good. Thomas Campbell and Protek De Flos in the Pertemps, no good again. BUT, Balko Des Flos in the RyanAir has helped.

L'Ami Serge in the Stayers' so nothing there either :'(

Damm I missed this thread. I back horses virtually every day with smallish stakes but mainly on the flat and following local Welsh trainers.

I'm off to Hereford to watch Chelt Festival in a minute - Regular trip to a pub (forgot the name of it) they lay on a massive free buffet all day long, big screens etc. Bookies directly opposite for those that do it old school.

I'm around £300 quid in profit this week and hoping for another good day today. I'll be having a few bets for Cheltenham but mainly concentrating on Lingfield and Wolverhampton this evening.

If I find anything I'll post up later with the usual caveat..........."buyer beware" hehe

First of all I need to put 20 quid (large bet for me) on the first race at Cheltenham - as Sly Bet will give money back on all losers! the freebie will be used for Wolverhampton later.

Good luck all thumbup
